IN THE SPOTLIGHT
MILLIE
The Spotlight feature this week is Millie. Millie strives for only perfection, and wants to one day be a household name in the world of modeling, and she tries very hard to stay focused on her career, while at the same time remaining humble to those close to her. When it’s all said and done, Millie wants to leave a long-lasting impression on everyone who has been a part of her life and her journey. Congratula- tions, Millie as this Spotlight feature.
College Dos And Don’ts
College. Some say college is the best times of your life. I, myself, would certainly have to agree. But aside from it being the best time of my life, there’s so much that I wasn’t aware of or even pre- pared for that I just had to experience along my journey.
As a recent college grad and Master’s student in the making, I want to share the ‘real’ Dos and Don’ts of col- lege.
These are the things that teachers, and family don’t mention. Here’s my advice.
1. As incoming freshmen make sure you attend in- formationals, events on campus, etc., anything that gives you the opportunity to make friends.
2. Get Involved!
There’s going to be so many clubs - from hiking, dancing, esports, Latin club, Jewish clubs, etc., you name it and
it’s there! Involvement will heighten your entire experi- ence, trust me!
3. Go to Class! You would think I wouldn’t have to say thi,s however, when you actually get to college it’s an entirely different ball game. You have so much freedom to do what you want, actually getting up and going to class becomes harder and harder.
4. Be disciplined. Al- ways remember your pur- pose for coming to college. If you have dreams, goals, and aspirations continue to keep that same energy throughout your entire experience.
5. Don’t live with your friends. If there’s one thing I cannot stress enough! Rooming with your best friend is a NO-NO! It’s all fun and games until you real- ize they’ve never cleaned a day in their life and now
you’re stuck with them for an entire year. Save yourself the disappointment.
6. Be nice to your pro- fessors, faculty members, classmates, honestly every- body. College is truly about networking and meeting dif- ferent people. Your professor could possibly be the key to you getting a job. You never know who you may need in the future, so try not to burn any bridges too soon.
7. Try your best to re- ally figure out what you want to do with your life within your first two years of start- ing college. Once you become a junior, you’re pretty much on a clock. Teachers and ad- visers will start asking ques- tions, so just make sure you have a plan.
8. Don’t be afraid to try new things! College is about growing into a young adult and experiencing new things. Don’t be a crab when you get to college. Make sure you’re getting out into the city and seeing what there is to offer. Make the best of the experience because once it’s over, it’s over.
9. Finally, my last tip to you is have fun! Don’t drown yourself down to the point that you become stressed and overwhelmed. Be studious, plan things, use your time wisely so you can enjoy the fun parts of college. It is not all suppose to be a miserable experience, but if you’re not careful it very well can be.
Use this time in your life to figure out who you are, and what you want to do. Take time to focus on your- self, your wants, needs, and desires. This is the perfect time to be selfish. It won’t be easy and truly only the strong survive, just make the best of it every single day.
