Jameis Winston Making A Strong First Impression On Bruce Arians
Russell Wilson To
One of the key tasks awaiting Bruce Arians when he was named head coach of the Tampa Bay Buc- caneers was to see if he could salvage former No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston.
While it’s still really early in the offseason, Arians has been impressed by some of the things he’s seen from Winston on the field.
“It’s amazing. I mean, he was getting the third and fourth reads quickly today,’’ Arians said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “He was off his first read, and that was not the easiest secondary to read. There was a lot of movement from quarters, to single high to man. I was extremely pleased with that part of it. I don’t think the defense got their hands on any of his
ston has appeared to make a strong first impression on his new coach.
The sentiment appears to be mutual as well.
“One thing about Coach B.A. You think he’s sitting back in his golf cart, but he’s communicating with his coaches,’’ Winston said. “He just has that head role so he’s communicating with everybody. He’s letting his orchestra play but he’s or- chestrating behind the scenes, telling everybody his thoughts and communicat- ing with the quarterbacks, communicating with (re- ceivers coach Kevin Garver), communicating with coach Byron. He runs the show. Even though they’re the puppets. We’re all on a string, but he’s pulling it.”

the fifth read in that play andhewasonitsofastand he could tell me why. It’s one thing to throw a completion, but tell me why you did it. That’s nice.”
Offseason work is still heavily restricted at this point in the calendar and there is only so much teams can do. Nevertheless, Win-

Forget watches, luggage and fancy booze ... Russell Wilson just thanked his Seattle Seahawks offensive line with the most Prime gift ever -- $12,000 in Amazon stock each!!
Wilson just signed a 4- year, $140 MILLION contract
-- making the QB the highest paid player in the NFL.
So, to thank the guys who protect his ass, Russell busted out the credit card and spent a grand total of $156,000 on his 13 offensive linemen.
Each player got a letter with the stock gift explaining why #3 hooked them up.
"Every Sunday we go to battle together," Wilson wrote ... "You sacrifice your physical and mental well- being to protect me, which in turn allows me to provide and care for my family."
"This does not go unno- ticed and it is never forgot- ten."

Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians understandably is not happy with his team’s schedule and voiced his dis- pleasure to the league office.
“Am I happy about it? Hell, no. I think it’s ridicu- lous,” Arians said, via Greg Auman of TheAthletic.com.

After playing two of their first three at home, the Bucs play the Rams and the Saints on the road before making their trip to London to “host” the Panthers.
After their post-London bye, the Bucs then go to Ten- nessee and Seattle.
“They didn’t do us any fa- vors,” Arians said. “Make it a chip on your shoulder and just say ‘Hey, this is what it is. This is the schedule. We’ll show up and we’ll play.'”
NFL V.P. of broadcasting Michael North said last week he wishes for a do-over at producing the schedules for the Bucs and Raiders.
MARSHAWN LYNCH
Marshawn Lynch is re- portedly walking away from the NFL.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Lynch is not planning to play football again. Lynch spent the last two seasons with the Raiders and is not under contract for the 2019 season.
Lynch has stepped away from the game in the past. He announced his retirement on the same day as Super Bowl
50 in 2016, but reversed course the next year and the Seahawks traded him to the Raiders in April 2017.
That change of heart means that one can’t rule out Lynch’s plans changing in the future. Going back to play in his hometown was the im- petus for his earlier course correction, however, and the expectation is that there won’t be a team in Oakland beyond the 2019 season. That and his age — Lynch turned 33 this week — are reasons to think this retirement has a better chance of sticking.
The Raiders signed Isaiah Crowell as a free agent to go with Jalen Richard, DeAn- dre Washington and Chris Warren at running back. They could add to that group in this week’s draft.
