Realtor Urges Others To Launch Their Own Careers
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
For more than 30 years, Ms. Ann R. Thompson has been a constant variable in the real estate industry. Now, she is ready to help others develop a career in the business.
She recently opened the doors to Thomp- son Real Estate Institute, LLC. The Institute offers training classes in pre-licensure, post-li- censure, new agent training and continuing education.
The classes will begin on Thursday, Octo- ber 22nd, however, those interested must reg- ister no later than Friday, October 16th. The training will take place at 1475 Tampa Park Plaza. The class is a 63-hour required course that spans a four-week period.
“When individuals are well informed, they are empowered with the ability to make better decisions and buying real estate is one of the biggest decisions most people will ever make,” Ms. Thompson said.
She feels now that the economy is slowly emerging from its real estate slump, this is a great time for individuals to develop a real es- tate career. She is willing to help others with the opportunity.
Ms. Thompson said the potential re- wards of a real estate career provide many as- pects appealing to those who don’t want to be tied down to an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. job. “It offers independence, flexibility, and the freedom to set your own hours. It also provides an intel- lectual challenge and the satisfaction of help- ing others at the same time. In addition, you are your own boss and basically in control of your own income.
“This is truly a field where you get out of it what you are willing to put into it,” she said.
The profession offers one of the widest ca- reer selections in the business world. The op- portunities range from helping people to purchase a home or helping an entrepreneur find his or her first office building.
But, realtors are not just limited to selling

properties to individuals they also provide as- sistance to industry and corporations.
Realtors act as sales trainees in brokerage firms, office assistants, as a listing agent, and property managers. The field is also a connec- tor to the banking industry, urban planning, appraisals, and research.
For those who need the security of working for a firm, the proper training can open the doors to employment at large real estate firms.
She feels compelled to offer this service be- cause of “the growth and demands for housing (rentals or purchases) in Hillsborough County.
Ms. Thompson brings to the training ses- sions a wealth of knowledge she has gained throughout the years.
She has served as a former Director for The Greater Tampa Association of Realtors, been recognized by the Women’s Council of Real- tors as a top producer, and is the recipient of the Beacon Award for the top number of trans- actions closed.
Ms. Thompson is the mother of two sons, Alan and Justin, and one daughter, Ashley.
