Colts Release QB Josh Johnson
FAMU Now 0-6 After Last Minutes Rally By North Carolina Central
The Indianapolis Colts opened up a spot on the roster last week by releasing veteran quarterback Josh Johnson a day after he backed up Matt Hasselbeck in a victory over the Jaguars.
Johnson was on the team because of the uncertainty re- garding Andrew Luck’s shoulder injury, so his depar- ture was seen as a sign that Luck would return to the lineup in Week Five. Luck wasn’t ready to play against the Texans on Thursday, however, and the Colts brought John- son back to support Hassel- beck.
That experience hasn’t left the Colts any more cautious this week. The team announced Monday that they have re-

NCCU (2-3, 1-1 MEAC) jumped out to a 17-10 lead courtesy of a 20-yard field goal by Macauley after a blocked punt by senior C.J. Moore, a 7-yard run by freshman running back Dor- rel McClain, and a 10-yard pass from junior Malcolm Bell to sophomore Armani

It’s Not Ciara, But A Weak O-Line That Plagues Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is running for his life behind the Seattle Seahawks’ weak offensive line, and a lot of times he can’t run fast enough.
Wilson was sacked four times Sunday in Cincinnati, giv- ing him a league-high 22 sacks so far this season. That puts him on pace to surpass 70 sacks this year, a total that has only been achieved twice in NFL his- tory: By David Carr with the expansion Texans in 2002, and by Randall Cunningham in his first year as a starter in 1986.
A good runner who some- times relies too much on his ability to make plays with his feet, Wilson has always taken a lot of sacks: He took 42 last year and 44 the year before. But 70 sacks in a season is a num-

ber that virtually assures the of- fense will be a disaster, and calls into question whether Wilson will even last 16 games.
Instead of a GoFund cam- paign to get rid of Ciara, per- haps the fans need to establish one of pay for a better offensive line.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – It took three quarters, a great deal of field laundry known as flags, and some hard-nosed defense on both sides, but the Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats, led by Tampa native, Quentin Williams, who scored on a 3-yard run with 5:14 remaining, pulled Bethune-Cookman to a 17-14 victory over South Carolina State on Thursday night before a Municipal Stadium "Black- out" crowd of 7,465 and a na- tional ESPNU audience.
Regardless of what you’ve seen to this point, B-CU is sporting a shiny 3-0 record in league play and sits atop the Mid-Eastern Athletic Confer- ence (MEAC) alongside North Carolina A&T. The Wildcats (5-1 overall, 3-0 MEAC) are undefeated at home and for the moment, control their own destiny. As in previous title runs and defenses, a main ob- stacle was presented when the South Carolina State Bulldogs, who regularly field top-notch defenses and an arsenal of of- fensive weapons, descended on Daytona Beach in time for “The Blackout”. B-CU faithful were clad in all black.
The Bulldogs were in search of higher ground as they trav- eled south down I-95 from Or- angeburg. The state of South Carolina suffered massive flooding resulting from Hurri- cane Joaquin, which skirted up the southeast coast a week ago. As could be expected, their fans and band were also in tow.
A moving moment was

when B-CU announcer Isadore Williams unified all in attendance by asking the B- CU fans to give a standing ova- tion to the opponents clad in Garnet and Blue, from across Larry Kelly Field at Municipal Stadium. The gesture of sup- port was outstanding, truly a kumbaya moment.
Defense and Penalties Ruled First Half
SCSU literally shot them- selves in the foot early-on with consecutive (6) false start penalties in the first half.
After B-CUs Ja-Quan Lumas caught a 2-yard pass from Quentin Williams in the third quarter, one could feel a sense of urgency emit- ting from the SCSU faithful up until Antonio Hamilton gave them life with an 82-yard punt return for a touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 14-10 lead at the 10:43 mark in the fourth quarter.
South Caolina State (2-3, 1- 1 MEAC) had the final posses- sion and advanced from its own 7 to its own 42. But pass breakups by Trenton Bridges and Elliott Miller helped the Wildcats regain possession and run out the clock.
Coming up for homecoming is a battle with the Norfolk State Spartans – the league last team to beat B-CU at home back in 2013. After Homecoming, the Morgan State Bears come to town in the first meeting between the two teams since 2012. The Bears sport a similar 3-0 MEAC record, but would also love to come into “The Cage” and steal a win.
Another road trip follows Homecoming, as the Cats travel to Dover, Delaware for a Halloween showdown with the Delaware State Hornets.
