Indie Lens Pop-Up Screening Of The Black Panthers
The New Black Panther Party of Tampa Bay has partnered with the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library and WEDU PBS Community Cinema series for the premiere of the Indie Lens Pop-Up: The Black Panthers – Vanguard of the Revolution.
The documentary film by Stanley Nelson, ex- plores the Black Panther Party, its significance, its
cultural and political awakening for Black people, and the painful lessons wrought when a movement derails.
The film weaves a treasure trove of rare archival footage with the voices of the people who were there. The movie premier will be held Monday, February 29th at the Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Public Library at
5:30 p.m. It is free to the public and the local New Black Panther Party encourages all to come out and see the interesting film and receive information about the Original Black Panther Party.
The public is invited to ask questions after the screening to discuss how the events in the film relate to the current New Black Panther Party movement.
Legacy Prep Hosts Annual Brain Bowl
Legacy Prep hosted their annual Brain Bowl this year at their new location. This year’s challenge came from the staff of WTMP 1150AM Radio.
