Sentinel Reader Reunites Woman With Missing Pet
Brewster Technical College Students Meet University Of Iowa Staff
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Since last Tuesday evening, Ms. Gail Rogers frantic with worry concerning the whereabouts of her beloved pet, Thuger. Thuger had left Ms. Rogers’ yard Tuesday fol- lowing another dog.
When Ms. Rogers went to look for the Chiwawa, she was told the dog had been hit by a truck and that another car had stopped and picked her up.
However, thanks to Ms. Thelma Wilcher, who read the story in the Sentinel, Ms. Rogers and Thuger were reunited.
Ms. Rogers said, “Sun- day evening, I was listening to the messages and when I heard that one, I stopped and called. I didn’t need to listen to anymore. Ms. Wilcher asked me some questions and I answered them. She was satisfied with my answers and told me she had Thuger and that she had been in her yard for a few days.
“She told me where she lived and I told her I would ride my bicycle over to her house. She told me that she and her grandson would drop Thuger off Monday morn- ing. I guess she heard the tears in my voice and said she would bring her to me. I’m just so grateful that she is al- right.”
Ms. Rogers said Ms. Wilcher related she didn’t read her Sentinel until Sun- day evening and that is when she saw the article about Thuger.
Ms. Rogers also said the people who told her about the second car picking up the dog must have been mistaken.

“She must have just run off. But, she is great. She does not appear to be injured at all.
“I’m just so glad to have her back,” Ms. Rogers said. Thuger has been Ms.
Rogers’ constant companion for the past 4 years.
Thuger became part of Ms. Rogers’ therapy after the loss of her mother and hus- band. And, she said, Thuger has helped her to survive some very difficult times in her life.
Ms. Rogers said she is extremely grateful that Ms. Wilcher returned her dog to her.
