X-Men: Apocalypse - The world’s first evil mutant, Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) wages a deadly war against the world and the X-Men (James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Alexander Shipp and Nicholas Hoult). Personally, I think this might be the best X-Men film. Action-packed, very violent and special effects were great. Director Bryan Singer (Superman Returns/ X-Men trilogy) Must see for action fans. Money Monster - Financial TV host Lee Gates (George Clooney) and his producer (Julia Roberts) are put in a life or death situation when an irate investor (Jake O’Connell) takes over their studio. Di- rected by Jodie Foster, this film gives you inside knowledge of how you can lose your money in the stock market. Surprisingly, very good. Made $38M (Budget $27M). ****
The Angry Birds - Red, Chuck and Bomb (Angry Birds) must figure out what the green piggies are up to when they visit their island. Kids will enjoy this animation. Made $87M. (Budget $73M). ***
The Nice Guys - A private detective (Ryan Gosling) and a hired enforcer (Russell Crowe) become unlikely partners to solve the mysterious disappearance of a young actress. This film was funny and very violent. Must-see for action fans. Made $29M. (Budget N/A) ****
Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising - Mac Radner and his wife (Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne) put their house up for sale, but can’t find a buyer because a wild sorority moves in next door. This spin-off was disap- pointing with limited laughs. Wait for it on DVD. Made $48M. (Budget N/A). **1/2
Captain America: Civil War - Government interference to stop the Avengers from saving the world causes a rift between former friends, Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.). Captain America and his crew, Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Winter Soldier (Sabastian Stan), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and Scarlett Witch ( Elizabeth Olsen) fight against Iron Man and his superheroes, War Machine (Don Cheadle), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Vision (Paul Bet- tany) Spider Man (Tom Holland), and newcomer Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). Directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo should be applauded for adding Black actors as superheroes. The final scene has a nice twist to it that makes this Avengers film a must-see! Keanu - Rell (Jordan Peel) and cousin, Clarence (Keegan-Michael Key) join forces to find Rell’s kitten that was stolen by thieves who work for a drug dealer named Cheddar (Method Man). The guys must go underground as gangsters to get the kitten back. Must see for laughs. Made $20M. (Budget $15M). ***1⁄2
Jungle Book - Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), this movie was about a boy, Mowgli (Neel Sethi) being raised by a family of wolves, was forced to leave his home when a fearsome tiger, Shere Khan (Idris Elba) wants to kill him. Guided by a no-nonsense panther (Ben Kingsley) and a free-spirited bear (Bill Murray), Mowgli learns a valuable life lessons on how to survive on his epic journey. The special ef- fects making the animals look real were truly amazing. Made $347M/ Foreign $548M. (Budget $175M). ****
