Russell Wilson, Whose Wife Ciara Is Pregnant, Among Star Players Who Demand NFL Safety Plan
NFL players want to have a 2020 season, but only if the NFL gets its act together. A number of prominent players — including Drew Brees, J. J. Watt, Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, De- shaun Watson and Richard Sherman — criti- cized the league Sunday for its lack of safety protocols as training camps begin to open.
Wilson, 31, cited his wife Ciara’s pregnancy as a rea- son he’s concerned the league hasn’t issued a plan yet.
The 31-year-old Watt provided the most in-depth view of the situation, laying

out the various issues the
players need to be resolved before rookies report July 21. Those issues include a
training camp acclimation pe- riod, clarity over how often players will be tested for the coronavirus and how the league plans to handle a player who tests positive. Watt also mentioned a “strong and fair opt-out clause for those at higher risk or those with family members at higher risk.”

Dez Bryant Seems To Blame Cowboys For Not Paying
About Safe Return
Players In Voicing Concern
Dak Prescott
The NFL has remained adamant that the 2020 regu- lar season will go on as planned, despite concern about the rising number of COVID-19 cases across the country.
But with training camp set to get underway soon, players spoke out on Twitter about their concern for safely re- turning, given that no clear plan has been given on how the league will ensure player and family safety.
DEZ BRYANT
Dak Prescott and the Dal- las Cowboys were unable to come to a long-term contract agreement prior to the deadline for franchise tagged players, which has led to a lot of finger pointing. Dez Bryant seems to feel that finger should be pointed at Jerry Jones.
Bryant sent a tweet that appeared to blame the Cow- boys for Prescott and the team not reaching an agree- ment.
The implication from Bryant is that the Cowboys have been able to work out long-term contracts with star quarterbacks like Troy Aik- man and Tony Romo in the past, yet they didn’t give Prescott what he wanted.
Prescott reportedly turned down a deal that would have paid him more than $100 mil- lion guaranteed. All indications have been that the Cowboys were willing to make him one of the top two or three highest- paid quarterbacks in the league, though they apparently wanted to sign Prescott to a five-year deal and he wanted four.
MIKE EVANS
Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans took to Instagram to show his support for the play- ers speaking out.
