Star DT Chris Jones Reached 4-Year Deal Worth Up To $85M
CHRIS JONES
The Kansas City Chiefs and defensive tackle Chris Jones have reached agree- ment on a four-year contract.
According to the sources, the $80 million contract in- cludes:
$37 million, due at signing
$60 million, guaranteed for injury
$5 million in incentives, making the value of the con- tract up to $85 million
The Chiefs and Jones, who received the team's fran- chise tag, had until Wednes- day's deadline to agree to a long-term contract.
Kenny Stills No Longer Facing Felony Charge Over Breonna Taylor Protest
KENNY STILLS
Houston Texans wide re- ceiver Kenny Stills will no longer face a felony charge for attending a protest in Louisville.
Stills joined other protest- ers who marched on the home of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron on Tuesday to demand action against police officers who shot and killed Breonna Taylor in March. The wide receiver was among 87 individuals who were ar- rested. All were charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process, a felony, along with a pair of misde- meanor charges.
On Friday, Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell an- nounced that the felony charges against Stills and his fellow protesters would be dropped and expunged from their records. The misdemeanors are still under review.

Another Showdown In 2021
For Defensive Player
For only the fourth time in NFL history, a quarter- back will play out a season under the franchise tag as the Dallas Cowboys failed to reach a contract extension with Dak Prescott before Wednesday’s deadline for designated players to reach a long-term agreement.
The two sides remained locked in their stance over contract years versus salary right up to the deadline, scuttling any chance of a deal that would have resolved the most pressing issue for the Cowboys over the past year.
Now, Prescott heads into his first franchise tag season, joining Drew Brees, who played under the tag for the San Diego Chargers in 2005 and Kirk Cousins, who played under two consecutive tags for Washington in 2016 and 2017.
DAK PRESCOTT
Prescott’s move forward into his first tag year also sets up one of the more re- markable showdowns in the history of NFL free agency in 2021, with both sides ex- pected to return to these same trenches: Dallas likely franchising Prescott for a second straight year in 2021 and the quarterback again pushing for a deal that would make him one of the highest- paid players at his position.
Myles Garrett's con- tract extension with the Cleveland Browns contains $100 million in total guaran- tees, the most ever paid to a defensive player, according to league sources, with $50 million guaranteed at sign- ing.
The Browns' star pass- rusher signed the record-set- ting five-year extension last Wednesday. The team did not disclose financial terms, but sources told ESPN that the deal is worth $125 mil- lion, with the $25 million av- erage salary also a record for a defensive player.
The Chicago Bears' Khalil Mack previously was the league's highest-paid defensive player in average salary ($23 million) and guaranteed money ($90 mil- lion).
"In 2017, the Cleveland Browns bet on me," Garrett said in a statement released through the team. "This city quickly became my home

and these people quickly be- came my family. I'm eter- nally grateful for this opportunity, the support of my friends and family, the organization, my teammates, the fans -- I could go on for- ever, but even that wouldn't be enough time to express my gratitude. I'll just say this: Keep betting on me, Cleveland, because I won't let you down. Now, let's get to work.
Cam Newton Addresses
‘Elephant In The Room’
Of Replacing Tom Brady
Cam Newton is in a unique situation this season in that he is a 31-year-old for- mer NFL MVP who was passed over by numerous teams.
However, that may not be the biggest storyline sur- rounding him heading into 2020. Newton also happens to be competing for the lofty responsibility of replacing Tom Brady, but he seems to have the right mindset about that.
Newton took part in a roundtable discussion this week with Odell Beckham, Jr., Todd Gurley and for- mer NFL receiver Victor Cruz, and he referred to himself taking over for Brady as the “elephant in the room.”
CAM NEWTON
“We have to talk about the elephant in the room,” New- ton said. “You know who you coming after, right? I’m like, yeah, great. What he was and what he is, great. There needs (to be) no even talking about it.”
