First African American Elected President Of Tampa Woman’s Club
On May 7, 2020, Dolores McIntosh was elected as the first African American Presi- dent of The Tampa Woman’s Club, located at 2901 Bayshore Blvd.
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is an international nonprofit organ- ization that brings together local women’s clubs in a collec- tive effort to strengthen com- munities and enhance the lives of others through volunteer service.

Operation Smile; volunteering at Trinity Café, American Red Cross, American Cancer Soci- ety; working with the Salvation Army, Metropolitan Min- istries, Special Olympics, Hur- rican Relief Fund, Hospice of Hillsborough, Alzheimer’s Dis-
ease, St. Joseph’s Pediatric Cancer Research, and many more organizations,” she stated.
With almost 80,000 mem- bers in affiliated clubs in every state, the District of Columbia, and more than a dozen coun- tries, members are community leaders who work locally to create global change by sup- porting the arts, preserving natrual resources, advancing education, promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging civic in- volvement and working to- ward world peace and understanding.
GFWC and its members annually donate an average of $26 million on behalf of more than 90,000 projects and vol- unteer more than 6 million hours.
Retires From Trucking Business
Frankco Malane retired from the trucking business after 30 years as an owner and long distance driver. He celebrated with fam- ily and friends at the Oldsmar Center Hall. (Photos by Julia Jackson)
