Crime Man Faces Murder Charge In
Woman’s Body Found On Side Of Road
Shooting Death
ThePolkCountySheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a young woman. Her body was found on the side of the road on East Memorial Blvd. (Highway 92), in Lake- land.
According to police, dis- patchers received a 9-1-1 call around 6:40 a.m., Sunday. The caller said a woman was unresponsive and laying on her back in the median.
Deputies responded to the scene and first respon- ders pronounced the woman
vestigating the death as a possible hit and run accident. The victim, who suffered a broken leg and other minor trauma, has been identified as 22-year-old Kara Fay
Hanvey, of Sebring.
The investigation is con-

13 Men Linked To Cocaine Trafficking Ring Sentenced
A 24-year-old man was arrested over the weekend and charged with murder. He is currently being held at the Hillsborough County Jail without bond.
According to the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice, deputies responded to Club 92, 10101 E. Highway 92, around 1:20 a.m., Satur- day in reference to a shoot- ing.
When they arrived, they learned that an adult man was suffering from a gun- shot. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died as a re- sult of his injuries.
The victim has not been identified.
During the investigation, Tampa Police stopped Jonathan Millage Crist, of Thonotosassa. During the traffic stop, he was arrested on drug and weapons charges and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail.

While continuing to in- vestigate the shooting, detec- tives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office were able to connect Crist to the shooting at the club. Crist was charged with first-de- gree murder.
He was also charged with possession of cocaine, pos- session of cannabis, tamper- ing with evidence, and carrying a concealed firearm.
Child Dies After Being
Run Over
A 6-year-old child died after being run over Friday night. The incident took place at the Starbucks parking lot at 11029 Causeway Boulevard, Brandon.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place around 7:15 p.m. The child was in the back seat of a relative’s vehicle when the driver was exiting the parking lot. The back door of the vehicle opened on the rear passenger side door and the child fell out of the vehicle.
The driver was attempting to make a right turn at a low speed onto southbound Provi- dence Lakes Boulevard. The child was run over by the rear passenger side tire.
The driver, who told detec- tives he did not realize the child had been run over by the vehi- cle, got out to check on the child, who was alert and did not appear to have any wounds at the time.
He placed the child back in the vehicle and continued down the roadway. When he realized the child had lost con- sciousness, he called 911 and pulled over at Grand Isle Drive and Gornto Lake Road.
The child was unresponsive when EMS arrived. The child was transported to Brandon Regional Hospital and later pronounced dead.
The driver was not im- paired and no foul play is sus- pected in this incident. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time. The child or the driver has not been identified. The investigation is ongoing.

Recently, 13 individuals linked to an interstate co- caine distribution ring, were sentenced to prison.
During the investigation, law enforcement seized more than seven kilograms of co- caine; nine firearms, includ- ing an assault rifle and shotgun; hundreds of rounds of ammunition; approxi- mately $40,000 in drug pro- ceeds; and a currency counter.
According to court docu- ments, from November 27, 2017, through April 18, 2018, leaders of the organization oversaw the shipment of more than 20 kilograms of cocaine into Florida from Puerto Rico.
After packaging the co- caine for distribution, the de- fendants provided the drugs to street level distributors who then sold it in Tampa, Orlando, and elsewhere.

The others are: Bryan Gomez Nevarez, 31, of Avon Park, 11 years, 3 months; Luis Enrique Hernandez Quinones, 29, Davenport, 11 years, 3 months; Pedro Luis Ramos Burgos, 26, Kissimmee, 10 years; Ismael Pagan Marrero, 44, Or- lando, 5 years, 10 months; Henry Coira, 31, Avon Park, 5 years, 10 months; and Hector Jose Carrasquillo Perez, 26, Catano, Puerto Rico, 10 years.
