Patriots Want LeGarrette Blount Back, Have Made Offer
Richard Sherman Reportedly Asked Seahawks To Trade Him
RICHARD SHERMAN
The Seattle Seahawks and Richard Sherman appear to have mutual interest in a divorce, and it has been widely assumed that the trade rumors started when the team started listening to of- fers. That may not have been the case.
On Friday’s edition of “SportsCenter,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said he has been told Sherman actually approached the Seahawks and requested a trade.
“It has been my under- standing all along that Richard Sherman was the one who initiated this,” Schefter said, according to his colleague Sheil Kapa- dia. “He was the one that wanted to be traded initially. The Seahawks were obliging him and his request.”
Interestingly enough, Sherman has said he does not believe the Seahawks will trade him. There have also been reports that he would oppose any trade that was not to a contending team, but none of that necessarily means the 29-year-old didn’t ask to be dealt.
Sherman has two years remaining on his four-year, $56 million contract, and Seattle has reportedly placed a high price tag on him. That price could come down as we get closer to the NFL Draft, especially if it is Sherman who wants out of town.
Russell Wilson Shares Excitement
Over Baby’s Upcoming Arrival:
No running back left on the free agent market was as productive as LeGarrette Blount in 2017. The longer he remains unemployed, the more likely it seems he will return to the New England Patriots.
Blount and the Patriots have mutual interest in working out a new deal. The team has reportedly made the 30-year-old an offer, but it was apparently not high enough.
In reality, Blount is probably more valuable to the Patriots than any other team. He had by far his best

season as a pro last year with 1,161 rushing yards and an NFL-best 18 scores on the ground. His power running style is perfectly suited as a change of pace for New Eng- land’s pass-heavy offense.
Russell Wilson can’t wait to take on his new role off the field — as Dad!
The Seattle Seahawks quar- terback, 28, tells reporters it’s “super exciting” that he and his wife Ciara are expecting their first child together.
“We have another little one onthewaysoit’sgoingtobea blessing for sure,” he says. “To be able to embrace what’s coming soon is going to be great.”
In preparation for the baby’s arrival, Wilson ex- plains that he and Ciara, 31, are “sharing love” as much as they can.

“It’s a crazy world that we live in and we’re just trying to love as much as possible,” he says. “I know Ciara and I are super focused on that. Loving one another, loving our kids and just loving the world.”
Ravens Re-Sign Veteran Lardarius Webb To Lesser Deal
Phil Simms On Being Booted For Tony Romo: ‘I Am Not Done’
The Baltimore Ravens brought one of their long- time defensive backs back at a reduced rate and a reduced role.
Lardarius Webb, 31, was re-signed to a three-year deal by the Ravens on Satur- day. This comes nearly four weeks after Webb was cut by the team.
Webb, who has been with Baltimore the past eight seasons, will back up safeties Eric Weddle and Tony Jefferson and add depth at slot cornerback.
The Ravens freed up $5.5 million in cap room by part-

ing ways with Webb on
March 10, one day after the team signed the top safety in free agency in Jefferson. Ravens officials said there was a possibility that Webb could return.
Reportedly, Simms felt blindsided by CBS’ decision to replace him with Romo with- out giving him a proper heads up about the entire arrange- ment. His son, Chris Simms, communicated this during a podcast.
It is worth noting that this move was in the works, should Romo opt for retirement, for weeks before it actually came to fruition. So it’s not as if Simms was completely blind- sided by it.
While opinions are likely split on whether Romo can be an improvement over Simms in CBS’ broadcast booth next to Jim Nantz,

some in the industry aren’t pleased whatsoever about the move.
The Super Bowl champ will certainly have other opportu- nities to work if he doesn’t stay on at CBS, where he is still under contract.
Tony Romo To Be On Bench
And In Uniform For Dallas
Jon Jones Calls Himself
Mavericks' Home Finale
'Greatest Mixed Martial Artist
Tony Romo’s NFL ca- reer may be over, but before he moves into the broadcast booth, he’ll first join the Dal- las Mavericks. That’s right, the now former Cowboys franchise quarterback will turn his sights to professional basketball, if only for a day.
The Mavs plan to honor Romo on Tuesday during the team’s final home game of the season, according to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, who writes that “the Maver- icks intend to have Romo on the bench and in uniform for their final regular-season home date against the Denver Nuggets as a means of paying tribute to the longtime former Cowboy.”
This sounds like much more than a ceremonial act; the Mavs lost guard Seth

Curry for the season with a shoulder injury, and owner Mark Cuban said several times in recent weeks that the team was looking for “a pass- first point guard.”
You could jokingly say that Romo made his living because of his unselfish, pass- first mentality, but Stein points out that, according to people in the organization, Cuban was referring to Romo.
Former UFC light heavy- weight champion Jon Jones might have lost a year of his career because of a doping ban, but he has not lost his fa- miliar bluster.
Jones referred to himself as "the greatest mixed martial artist who's ever walked this planet" in speaking to the media for the first time since being suspended in July.
Jones wouldn't say whether he'll immediately re- turn to the cage for UFC 213, which is scheduled a week after his suspension is lifted. But Jones vowed his return will be successful in re-estab- lishing him as one of the sport's best pound-for-pound

fighters.
The 28-year-old Jones
lamented that if not for tak- ing a sexual-enhancement pill, which he says led to the positive test, he would have already regained the title he has now lost twice due to sus- pensions.
