Woman Charged In Deadly Accident

Crash Extradited
A 24-year-old Tampa woman has been charged in connection with a fatal acci- dent. The accident took place Sunday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ms. Han- nah Michele Patrick, of Tampa, was driving north on U. S. 41, toward Morgan Road. Zachary Scott Kane, 44, of Land O’ Lakes, was driving his motorcycle south on U. S. 41.
Ms. Patrick is said to have made a u-turn into the path of Kane. After her 2009 Kia Spectra collided
with the motorcycle, it then struck a Chevrolet Impala driven by 69-year-old Diane Farmer.
Kane received serious in- juries and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he later died.
Ms. Farmer sustained minor injuries and Ms. Patrick was not injured.
Ms. Patrick was ar- rested and charged with DUI serious bodily harm, driving while license suspended, se- rious bodily harm, making an improper u-turn, and no proof of insurance.
A 22-year-old man who fled the country to escape prosecution has been ar- rested. Christopher Ponce was captured in Spain and returned to the United States.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ponce was charged with failure to ap- pear on charges of DUI manslaughter, DUI with seri- ous bodily injury, vehicular homicide, and reckless driv- ing.
The incident took place on July 19, 2012, when Ponce was driving south- bound in the northbound lanes of I-275, south of Inter- state 4. The 2012 Ford Fu- sion he was driving collided head-on with a 2000 Ford Mustang driven by William Brooks Angel, 20, of Wes- ley Chapel.
Angel died at the scene as a result of his injuries. His passenger, Robert Patrick Newberry, 22, of Lutz, was

seriously injured.
Ponce was also seriously
injured in the crash. He was arrested on July 20th, after being treated at Tampa Gen- eral Hospital. However, Ponce fled the country.
He was located and ar- rested in Spain last week. The United States extradited him from Spain and he was returned to stand trial on April 6.
