Netflix is firming an 8-figure sum for world rights to Bruised, the mixed martial arts drama that marks the directorial debut of Halle Berry.

The film charts a night when icons Muhammad Ali, Mal- colm X, Sam Cooke and Jim Brown gather to discuss their roles in the civil rights movement.
The drama received hardy applause on site. King also made history as the first African American female di- rector with a film at the festi- val.
Boseman’s Hometown Approves Memorial But Won’t Remove Confederate Statue
Producers Sign Multi-Million Dollar Deal With Warner Brothers
Over 60,000 people signed the petition to replace a Con- federate statue in Anderson, South Carolina with one of Chadwick Boseman, the celebrated native-son actor who passed away Aug. 28 after a four-year colon cancer fight. A spokesperson for the Ander- son Mayor Terence Roberts told TMZ that the city is “enthusiastically” work- ing on a permanent public me- morial in honor of the Black Panther star. However, that new tribute will not replace a Confederate statue that cur- rently stands outside the city’s courthouse.
According to South Carolina

law, Confederate statues are protected by a heritage act and require a two-thirds vote from the state legislature to remove.
Anderson’s monument de- picts a standing Confederate soldier atop a platform and sits in front of the Anderson County Courthouse. An in- scription reads, “The world shall yet decide, in truth’s clear, far-off light, that the sol- diers who wore the gray, and died with Lee, were in the right.”
The city told TMZ that Boseman will be honored with a remembrance that will include a mix of sculpture with mural and/or other art ele- ments.
Mayor Roberts’ office is currently calling for public input.
Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle, creators of Sherman’s Showcase and South Side, have closed an overall deal with Warner Bros TV.
The pair have signed a multi- year deal with the studio and have ambitions to create, de- velop and produce TV projects in a wide range of genres from animation to superhero series. This comes after a good run that saw their musical variety show Sherman’s Showcase picked up for a second season to air on both AMC and IFC, and a sec- ond season of Chicago-based comedy South Side.
The pair got their break on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where they wrote sketches before leaving in 2011.
They had a development deal

at HBO, where they created their own show Brothers in At- lanta, but it didn’t get past the pilot stage. After working as consulting producers for Jor- dan Peele and Tracey Mor- gan on The Last O.G. at TBS, they scored two of their own shows – Sherman Showcase and South Side.
   T. I. Charged By SEC For Role In Fraudulent Cryptocurrency Scheme
The Securities and Exchange Commission announced Fri- day it has charged T. I. for the rapper’s role in a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme.
The SEC implicated five At- lanta-area people — including Clifford “T.I.” Harris — for promoting FLiK and CoinSpark, “two unregistered and fraudulent initial coin of- ferings (ICOs)” led by film pro- ducer Ryan Felton, in the summer of 2017.
In the complaint against Harris, the SEC claims “T. I. offered and sold FLiK tokens on his social media accounts, falsely claiming to be a FLiK

co-owner and encouraging his followers to invest in the FLiK ICO. T. I. also asked a celebrity friend to promote the FLiK ICO on social media and provided the language for
posts, referring to FLiK as T. I.’s ‘new venture.'” Harris’ social media manager William Sparks was also charged by the SEC.
By posting about FLiK on his social media accounts, Harris “substantially ampli- fied the reach of FLiK’s mar- keting campaign.” However, with the money raised from the phony cryptocurrency companies, Felton “used the funds he misappropriated and the proceeds of his manipula- tive trading to buy a Ferrari, a million-dollar home, diamond jewelry, and other luxury goods.”
