Pro Basketball Player Asks Community To Join Her For ’70s Event
NBA Stars Unlikely To Play In 3-On-3 Olympic Basketball
LEBRON JAMES
The addition of 3-on-3 basketball to the Summer Olympics was exciting and intriguing for those who wanted to see the NBA’s biggest stars in such a format, but it doesn’t sound like many will be interested.
The general consensus sur- rounding the new competi- tion was that leading NBA stars would be hesitant to participate.
LeBron James specifi- cally indicated that he would pass on the competition.
It’s not surprising. Some players are still contemplat- ing the 5-on-5 competition, and the ones willing to go will be more interested in that.
Charles Barkley Says He’s Spending Next Six Weeks On ‘Fat Farm’
CHARLES BARKLEY
Charles Barkley will miss the rest of the NBA Fi- nals, the NBA Awards, and the start of the offseason. Why? He’s off to “fat camp.”
Barkley made the an- nouncement on NBA TV’s postgame show Friday night, saying he needs to get in shape and is taking the op- portunity to do so in the off- season.
Barkley added that he was going to San Antonio for it, though given his long his- tory of taking shots at the city’s women, that part may have been a joke.
Barkley has often been prodded for his figure.

The former WNBA player who currently plays overseas invites community to ’70s Party
A Baylor College graduate, who played for the Washing- ton Mystics of the WNBA be- fore taking her skills overseas, is inviting young people over the age of 18 to join her Friday, June 16, 2017 “for some wholesome, godly fun.” Tick- ets to the event are $10 in ad- vance and $15 at the door. Call, (813) 445-7617.
Bernice Mosby, who re- cently returned from play in Poland, is also heavily in- volved with her church, Ful- filling God’s Purpose, with 2 locations. The senior pastor is Apostle Janice M. Perkins.
Ms. Mosby has partnered with the church to host a ’70s Party, 7-11 p. m., at the Event Factory. There will be games, prizes, best dressed ’70s outfit winners and cruise trips.
A young Christian woman, Ms. Mosby says, “So many young people think that they can’t have fun once they be- come a Christian and connect with a church, but that’s not true. That’s why we’re having this event to show those who come that you can disconnect from worldly things and still have fun. We invite them to get out of their comfortable el- ement.
“The Event Factory is well laid out and conducive for a

‘70s Extravaganza. You can create an atmosphere of good godly fun,” she further stated.
As a professional female, the 6”5” athlete (who loves wearing high heels) says it’s a struggle. “But I know that with God all things are possible. There are situations where I have to stand my ground, but I don’t have to be religious. I can be holy. It not about my surrounding. When in Rome. You do as the Romans, but I don’t have to do wine because they’re doing it.”
Mosby earned her under- graduate degree from Baylor in Education and certification in General Studies. A graduate of Hernando High School, her professional basketball career began in 2007.
“You can be an inspiration in anything, no matter how great or how small,” she shares.
“We want those 18 years old and older to experience what the ‘’70s looked like – the platforms, natural hair, Afros – all of that is coming back. I’m super excited,” she stated.
During his chat with the media on Thursday, Andre Iguodala seemed to hint that he, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant will re-sign with the Golden State Warriors.
Iguodala and Curry will be free agents after the sea- son, while Durant has a player option that he can de- cline in order to become a free agent. There have been a lot of questions about whether Golden State will be able to retain their key pieces, and Iguodala thinks they will.
Iguodala’s Warriors are up 3-1 in the NBA Finals, and therefore close to ending the season. When the season is over, Iguodala won’t have to deal with the media as much,

leading a reporter to ask if Iguodala was looking for- ward to that part.
Iguodala then said that he was expecting to talk with the media again in a few weeks — when free agency begins — and that Kevin Durant and Steph Curry would be talk- ing too.
Paul George Trade Market Limited By Belief He Will Sign With Lakers
Darius Miles Loses LeBron Jersey, All Possessions In Bankruptcy Sale
The Indiana Pacers have to give serious consideration to trading Paul George this summer if they believe he will leave in free agency next year, but they may not end up get- ting a respectable enough offer.
While George is obviously the type of talent you would expect teams to give up a ton of assets for, there is a grow- ing belief that the 27-year-old is dead set on signing with the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, that is the reason teams are unwilling to pay a high price for George.

By that same reasoning, the Lakers don’t need to give up draft picks or young play- ers to acquire George, ei- ther. They can simply wait it out until after the 2017-2018 season and sign him as a free agent.
Darius Miles earned tens of millions of dollars during his seven-year career, but the former NBA player has noth- ing left — not even his auto- graphed LeBron James jersey.
Miles filed for bankruptcy about a year ago, and TMZ re- ports that he recently sold most of his possessions to pay back creditors.
Among the items Miles sold included an autographed LeBron jersey, which went for $1,500. The former No. 3 overall pick also sold a signed Larry Bird jersey for $400, two guns for a total of $900 and some other memorabilia. In total he got $12,780 from the sale.
Miles made $62 million during his years in the NBA, and the 35-year-old cited a se- ries of bad investments and

legal issues when he filed for bankruptcy last summer. He reportedly owed more than $280,000 in back taxes and $20,000 in child support.
Unfortunately, stories like Miles’ are all too common for athletes. Miles averaged 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while playing for the Clippers, Cavs, Trail Blaz- ers and Grizzles.
Dwyane Wade has ap- proximately two weeks to make up his mind on his Chicago Bulls future, and that process is underway after a meeting with the organiza- tion’s front office.
According to K.C. John- son of the Chicago Tribune, Wade met with the Bulls on Saturday for his exit meeting, with the guard facing a deci- sion on his $23.8 million player option by June 27.
The Bulls plan to bring back Rajon Rondo and had a similar meeting with Jimmy Butler, which may indicate a willingness to keep the core in place. That would please

The belief is that Wade will ultimately exercise his option. It doesn’t appear that any- thing took place around this meeting to dissuade him from doing so.
