Nike Elects Not To Renew Jameis Winston's Contract
EA Sports Apologizes For Kaepernick Omission From Madden NFL Song
COLIN KAEPERNICK
Electronic Arts (EA Sports) apologized for the omission of Colin Kaepernick’s name from one of the songs in the game’s soundtrack.
EA Sports blamed the mis- take on a misunderstanding about the rights the company has regarding Kaepernick’s inclusion in the actual game. That song titled Big Bank fea- tured rappers Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, 2 Chainz and YG. YG and Big Sean via social media voiced their displeasure about the omission.
Kaepernick thanked Big Sean and YG via social media for supporting him.
Randy Moss Pays Tribute With His Hall Of Fame Tie
RANDY MOSS
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Win- ston is no longer a Nike man.
A Nike official told a source on Friday that Win- ston's deal expired and the company elected not to renew the former No. 1 over- all draft pick.
Sources say Winston's contract expired before the NFL announced he would be suspended for the first three games of the regular season for violating the league's per- sonal conduct policy. The vi- olation relates to a 2016 incident in which Winston was accused of groping a fe- male Uber driver.
Winston apologized in a statement following the sus- pension, after denying seven months before that the inci-

dent took place.
Nike's biggest bets on for-
mer Heisman Trophy win- ners haven't panned out. In 2010, they signed Tim Tebow, whose career on the gridiron faltered. In 2016, when he switched to baseball, he went to Adidas.
What Winston will re- place the Nike swoosh with is unknown.
Randy Moss used a piece of his Hall of Fame wardrobe to send a powerful message.
Moss was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio on Saturday night. During the evening, he wore a tie that had the names of several people stitched in. The tie paid tribute to several black victims who were wrongfully killed.
“What I wanted to be able to express with my tie is to let these families know that
they’re not alone,” Moss said of his tie during an ap- pearance on NFL Network. “I’m not here voicing, but by these names on my tie, and a big platform as the Pro Foot- ball Hall of Fame ... there’s a lot of stuff going on in our country, and I just want to let these family members know that they’re not alone.”
Moss’ actions were no- ticed by many and well-re- ceived. The tie also could go a long way towards making up for his comments last year on those protesting racism.
Cam Newton Responds To Kelvin Benjamin Comments
Cam Newton is taking the high road in response to comments made by former Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin recently.
In an interview with the Athletic, Benjamin said he wished he had never gone to Carolina in the draft and was critical of Newton’s accu- racy, claiming he could have done better with literally any other NFL quarterback.
Newton refused to take the bait, though.
In a video he shared on his Instagram story, New- ton said he would not go back and forth with Ben- jamin and would instead keep working, as he was walking on a treadmill.
Classy response from Newton, who probably has

Benjamin was traded to Buffalo last season on Hal- loween in exchange for third round and seventh round draft picks. The Panthers will visit the Bills on Thursday night in their first preseason game of the year.
‘Squirrel Dance’
Jonathan Ogden
Investigation Set To Be
Team Up To Do
Completed Within 14 Days
JONATHAN OGDEN AND RAY LEWIS
Ray Lewis and Jonathan Ogden teamed up on Saturday night for perhaps the best “Squirrel Dance” of their career.
Lewis was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio as part of a special evening with a 33 minute speech. Lewis decided to call Ogden onto the stage so the two could perform Lewis’ signature dance in Canton.
Lewis and Ogden were the Ravens’ first two draft picks upon moving to Balti- more for the 1996 season, and both ended winning a Super Bowl and making the Hall of Fame.
Ohio State issued a state- ment Sunday night saying the investigation into the fate of football coach Urban Meyer "is expected to be completed within 14 days".
The school last week placed Meyer on administra- tive leave and launched the investigation after it was re- ported that the coach had lied when he told reporters at Big Ten media days that he knew nothing about a 2015 domes- tic violence allegation against Ohio State assistant coach Zach Smith.
Meyer on Friday issued a statement saying he followed protocol at the time of the in- cident, but that he "failed" when answering questions about it at media days.
Ohio State said decisions based on the results of the in- vestigation will be made by a group chaired by former Ohio House Speaker Jo Ann Davidson and also including former acting U. S. Deputy At- torney General Craig Mor-

ford, former U. S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio Carter Stewart, and current university trustees Alex Fischer, Janet Porter and Alex Shumate.
The investigation itself is being led by former Chair of the U. S. Securities and Ex- change Commission Mary Jo White.
Smith was fired on July 23 after reports emerged of multiple domestic abuse alle- gations involving Smith and his ex-wife Courtney.
