2 Men Charged In 2-Year-Old Double Murder Case
Human Trafficking
GARIAN ANTONIO BROWN
Two years ago, on January 8, 2019, Tampa Police responded to East Tampa in reference to a shooting. When they arrived in the 8700 block of Tangerine Place, just before 11 p.m., they discovered two people had been injured by gunfire.
Last Friday, on the second anniversary of the double mur- der, police arrested 27-year-old Garian Antonio Brown. An- other individual, 21-year-old Kelvin Reynoso, was also charged in the double murder.
Information gathered during the investigation led police to Brown as a suspect. Following leads, police learned that Brown would be at a location in the 11100 block of U. S. Highway, in Gibsonton.
Late Friday morning, Brown was seen driving into the parking lot, exiting a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe, and entering

On January 11, National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, Hillsborough County Sher- iff Chad Chronister an- nounced the results of a month-long operation aimed at targeting and deterring human trafficking in Hillsborough County.
A total of 71 individuals were arrested during the course of the investigation dubbed “Opera- tion Interception.”
This investigation is one of many proactive approaches the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has taken to combat human trafficking leading up to the Super Bowl coming to Tampa in February 2021.
Sheriff Chronister said, “With less than a month until the big game, our covert opera- tions continue, seeking those who choose to sexually exploit others here in our community.
“Our goal, as the operation name explains, is to ‘intercept’ individuals involved in sexual exploitation before they are able to take advantage of vulnerable individuals, and ultimately, to deter others.”
Beginning December 7, 2020, through January 9, 2021, detectives worked undercover posting online ads offering to meet up and make themselves available to be purchased for sex. Female detectives posed as prostitutes on the streets.
A total of 71 ‘Johns,’ or sex buyers, were arrested and charged with soliciting another to commit prostitution or enter- ing /remaining in a place for prostitution. Some received ad- ditional charges, including drug possession.
Sheriff Chronister said by continuing to conduct under- cover operations targeting Johns, his hope is that both res- idents and visitors of Hillsbor- ough County the week of the big game, including those traveling specifically to engage in human trafficking, will learn in advance that Hillsborough County has a zero-tolerance for such activity.
“Like any major sporting event, the Super Bowl should not be a venue where these types of crimes occur on the sidelines, whether it’s before, during, or after the game/
“We know from past experi- ences with major sporting events that there will be some who travel for the exclusive pur- pose of taking advantage of
the building. Officers ap- proached and took Brown into custody without incident.
Brown was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he was charged with two counts of murder and one count of armed robbery.
Reynoso was already in the Hillsborough County Jail on un- related charges. He is now fac- ing two counts of murder and one count of armed robbery.
Detectives have not released any additional details about the case.
About The Victims
When police arrived at the location where the shooting took place, they found an adult man found sitting in a vehicle. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Tampa General
Hospital, where he later died.
A woman passenger had been ejected from the vehicle. She was also suffering from gun-
shot wounds to the upper body. The only information about the victims that police wound re- lease as a result of Marsy’s Law, was that they were both adults. The woman was in her early 30s and the man in his
mid-20s.
