The worse part of it all is that the individuals most re- sponsible for ruining this God-given paradise, that we’ve called home for thou- sands of years, are desperately trying to find an escape route. I guess laying waste to this planet wasn’t good enough. Now they want to take their recipe for ruin onto the inter- stellar highway.
Of course there is always hope that we can, somehow, turn things around and pre- vent this seemingly inevitable collapse of civilization from occurring. But, if we don’t, I believe that those of us who sat by and watched it all fall apart from a distance owe our children and grandchildren a sincere apology for dragging them into mess that they didn’t play any part in creat- ing.

Citywide Schools: A Dumb Idea!
W e often wonder what source of inspiration fuels some of the hare-brained ideas certain Florida legislators hatch out. Take, for instance, the Constitu- tional Amendment proposed by Representative Matt Caldwell (R-North Fort Myers) and Senator Jeff Bran- des (R-St. Petersburg) that would establish citywide school districts instead of the countywide districts as
currently required by Florida’s Constitution. However, nowhere is there statistical data that says children do better academically in citywide school sys- tems. Furthermore, any third grader could figure out that such a dismantling of our current school systems
would cost taxpayers more than an arm and a leg.
In other words, obviously little thought was given as to how the proposed school systems change would im- pact the division of current geographical locations of elementary, middle, and high schools. Neither did anyone consider the impact of eroding urban tax
bases or wealthier rural tax bases.
What about the additional costs of operating mul-
tiple school boards, paying multiple school superin- tendents, and supporting staff?
Currently, Florida has 67 school systems. Does the proposed citywide plan mean that Hillsborough County will have three school systems – Tampa, Tem- ple Terrace, and Plant City? Pinellas County has 24 in- corporated municipalities. Is it possible that Florida would end up like a checkerboard with hundreds of school systems?

ings. February is the month that most people go that extra yard to really show some love to themselves or their significant other. As a Life and Business Success Coach I advise my clients to also take this month to show some love to their business.
As a solo-preneuer, busi- ness owner, ministry or or- ganization leader oftentimes you get so busy with the day to day operations that you neglect to give special atten- tions to certain aspects of the business. So as your Life and Business Success Coach through this 60 Seconds on Success Column I want to en- courage you to ignite your passion for your business, rekindle the flames of your business desires and let your love for what you do flow freely.
Now that I’ve suggested
I never thought I would say this, but I’m really beginning to regret ever having children. Not because it hasn’t been a fulfilling experience. I just hate the fact that I brought them into a world that seems to be quickly unraveling.
I mean when you have kids the main thing you want to do is keep them safe and healthy. You imagine them growing up to live out their dreams and having a better life than your own. But as I look at the con- dition of this planet right now, I’m not sure if that’s necessar- ily going to be the case.
Between the never ending onslaught of religious radicals violently acting upon their be- liefs, climate change causing
to you to show some love to your business, I’m going to share a few suggestions on how to love on your business.
Create a business website. If you already have a website take some time to review and update the information to make sure it’s in alignment with direction of where your business is currently head- ing.
Develop a newsletter to keep your current customers and potential prospective clients informed on what’s happening in your business and ways you can benefit them.
Do an overview of your fi- nancial record keeping sys- tem. Make sure it’s sound and allows you to maximize your business tax returns.
Have a brainstorming session to create new ways to increase your bottom line or generate new revenue
the environment to become increasingly hostile, the ecosystem being destroyed and contaminated by harmful pesticides, radioactive debris and waste poisoning the oceans, rapidly depleting nat- ural resources and man-made viruses, like the newly discov- ered Zika, continuously being introduced into the human populace as part of a strategy to control population growth, for the first time in my life I actually feel sorry for what the next generations will have to inherit in the next 35-50 years. That is mainly because, while many of us won’t be around to see how all of this craziness turns out, the ones who come behind us will.

Barack Obama: Modern Prince Of Peace
In the midst of recent choreographed firestorms (re- ferring to Republican and Democratic Party presi- dential debates), a front of fresh air swept over
American ears and sensibilities as our nation’s Com- mander-in-Chief stepped forward and spoke quite like another man who was known for having delivered a speech later known as the Sermon on the Mount. Pres- ident Barack Obama, delivering one of what has been called a series of farewell addresses, faced the nation, and gave a heartfelt assessment regarding the soul of our society.
Listen to the sense and thunder of his words as the President warned fellow politicians and fellow Ameri- cans against the dangers of “politics of polarization and meanness.”
But President Obama’s blunt words of warning were also warmed by words of kindness and inspiration as he reminded a bipartisan Illinois audience that “com- promise is necessary and doesn’t make me a sellout.”
Ending his historic address with the statement, “I miss you guys,” this modern Prince of Peace pumped the flesh of a cheering crowd, confident once again, that his words and their impact will be remembered as one of the greatest speeches given in human history, and will continue to cement the belief of historians that this overly unsung President deserves his early award of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Indeed, both Democratic presidential candidates would do well to embrace him upon whose shoulders they and their opponents obviously stand.
