‘Girls Trip’ Is First Film Made By And Starring Black Cast To Earn $100M
Girls Trip cast helped the film make history when it topped $100M at box office.

Girls Trip just made his- tory.
The movie became the first film written, produced, di- rected, and starring an all- African-American cast to make $100 million at the box office.
The popular summer movie — produced by Will Packer, directed by Malcolm D. Lee,
and starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pin- kett-Smith and Tiffany Haddish — made $100.1 mil- lion domestically and $109.9 worldwide.
“Girl’s Trip” made six times its $19 million production budget since its July 21 re- lease.
Formally Charged With Rape; $2M Bond Set
Mystikal is wanted for al- leged sexual assault.
Mystikal is wanted by Shreveport Police in connec- tion to an alleged sexual as- sault.
Police say a woman was raped on October 22, 2016 in downtown Shreveport, ac- cording to a report by KSLA. An investigation matched evi- dence to Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, and 26-year-old Averweone Holman. Warrants were is- sued for both men, who were each charged with one count of first-degree rape.
Holman was arrested on Friday (August 18) by U.S. Marshals in Killeen, Texas. The search for Mystikal con- tinues. Each man’s bond has been set at $2 million.
This is not the first time Mystikal has faced a sexual assault-related charge. He pre- viously pleaded guilty to sex- ual battery and no contest to extortion in 2003.
Consequently, he served a six-year prison sentence. The “Shake Ya A*@” rapper was released in 2010 and regis- tered as a sex offender.
Award recipients, Cong. Maxine Waters, Issa Rae and Yara Shadidi on the red carpet for the live awards show. The taped show will air Tuesday.
Black girl magic was front and center during the 2017 Black Girls Rock! Awards. The awards ceremony was held in early August.
