What A Game!
What seemed like a blow out turned out to be a great game. Two evenly matched teams both on offense and defense lived up to the hype in Tampa on Sunday as the Buccaneers hosted the Bills.
Buffalo erased a 24-3 half- time deficit to force overtime at Raymond James Stadium as Josh Allen and Buffalo faced the defending champi- ons. Allen finished the after- noon with 417 total yards and three touchdowns, though it was Brady who (per usual) got the last laugh.
Brady and the Bucs re- ceived the ball at their own 6- yard line after a Bills punt to start overtime. The poor field position was no issue as Brady marched Tampa down the field, and facing a 3rd-and-3 at his own 42, the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Breshad Perriman (16) outruns Buffalo Bills linebacker Tremaine Edmunds (49) on a 55-yard touchdown reception during overtime.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady be- came the first player in NFL history to throw for 700 ca- reer passing touchdowns on Sunday. He did it against a fitting opponent in appropri- ately dramatic fashion.
Brady came into Sun- day’s game against the Buf- falo Bills with 615 career regular season touchdowns and 83 more in the playoffs. That left Brady in need of two more to reach 700 for his career. The feat appeared set to wait a week when the Buc- caneers jumped out to a 24-3 halftime lead with Brady throwing for just one touch- down, but a furious second half rally sent the game to overtime tied at 27.
TOM BRADY
After the Buccaneers got a stop on defense to open the extra period, Brady took over. Facing a pivotal 3rd and 3 from their own 42-yard line, Brady found Breshad Per- riman for a 58-yard walkoff touchdown that also counted for No. 700 in Brady’s ca- reer.
seven-time Super Bowl champion ended the contest in thrilling fashion.
Tampa's quarterback con- nected with receiver Bre- shad Perriman on a short crossing route with more than enough room for a first down. Perriman then
turned on the jets as he sprinted down the right side- line, outrunning every de- fender in sight as he secured the 33-27 win.
Mike Evans Draws Controversial Pass Interference Call To Help Bucs In OT
Mike Evans and the Buc- caneers were rewarded with a pass-interference call that probably could have gone ei- ther way.
Mike Evans drew a fa- vorable pass interference call in overtime of his Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ win over the Buf- falo Bills on Sunday, and plenty of people didn’t like the ruling.
The Bucs had a 1st-and-10 in overtime from their 16-yard line. Tom Brady attempted a pass to Evans down the left sideline that fell incomplete. The ball was underthrown, causing Evans to stop and try and catch the pass.
Levi Wallace was called for pass interference for the contact.
The CBS TV feed had issues during the play, which helped to cover up the call.
Buccaneers Host
Saints With Division
Title On The Line
The high flying Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trying to win their first NFC South title since 2007 and at the same time snap the New Orleans Saints' four-year grip on that crown.
In Week 15, on the evening of Sunday, December 19 at 8:20p.m., the Bucca- neers will have a chance to take that prize directly from their division rivals.
The Buccaneers will play their fifth nationally-televised prime-time game of 2021 next Sunday when they take on the Saints on NBC in Week 15. After beating the Buffalo Bills 33-27 in overtime in Week 13, the Bucs put them- selves on the verge of that long-awaited division title, with both Atlanta and Car- olina eliminated and only their own stumbling block in the NFC South still standing in the way. Despite the Buc- caneers winning Super Bowl
LV last year and beating New Orleans in the playoffs, the Saints have won six straight regular-season games in the series.
New Orleans remains mathematically alive in the division race, now four games back with four weeks to play. The Saints beat the New York Jets in Week 14, 30-9, to stave off elimination and also hold a Week Eight win over the Buccaneers in their back pocket. The memory of last year's visit by the Saints to Raymond James Stadium – a shocking 38-3 win for the vis- itors on Sunday Night Foot- ball – is also still fresh in the Buccaneers' minds.
