Birthdays Our Military Men & Women
Enlistees Graduate From Military Training Course
Two young ladies with ties to the Tampa Bay Area recently graduated from basic military training in the U. S. Air Force. They participated in the respec- tive graduation ceremonies at the Joint Base San Antonio- Lackland, in San Antonio, Texas.
Airman Ileana A. Puer- tas and Airman Sylvia L. Rosario completed an inten- sive, eight-week program that included training in military dis- cipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

They also earned four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science Degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Airman Puertas is the daughter of Orlando and Mar- garet Puertas, of Tampa. She is also the wife of Aaron Har- rell.
Airman Puertas graduated from Brooks Debartolo Colle- giate High School, in 2017.
Airman Rosario is the daughter of Stefani Rosario, of Forty Fort, PA, and Alejandro Salguedo, of Mint Hill, NC.
She is the granddaughter of Sylvia Martir, of Boynton Beach, the niece of Jacqueline Johnson, of Tampa, and Zantia Seda, of Holden, MA.
Airman Rosario graduated from Boynton Beach Commu- nity High School, in Boynton Beach, in 2017.
St. Petersburg Native Aboard Naval Ship
PETTY OFFICER 3rd CLASS MORRIS COOPER
NORFOLK, Va – Petty Officer 3rd Class Morris Cooper is currently assigned to the the USS Kearsarge
Petty Officer 3rd Class Morris Cooper is an Air Traffic Controller aboard the amphibious transport dock operating out of Norfolk. A Navy Air Traffic Controller is responsible for the safe and expeditious control of naval aircraft.
Kearsarge, one of the Navy’s most advanced amphibious ships, is designed to deliver Marines and their equipment where they are needed to support a variety of missions ranging from amphibious assaults to humanitarian relief efforts.
Petty Officer Cooper is a native St. Petersburg, and 2014 Boca Ciega High School graduate is serv- ing in the U.S. Navy aboard USS Kearsarge. He has military ties with family members who have previously served and is hon- ored to carry on the family tradition.
His proudest accomplishment was giving a speech to fellow crewmembers, while in Puerto Rico during Hurricane Irma relief efforts, on the topic of USS Kearsarge history.
