DENNIS SCHRODER AND DEONTE BURTON
The Oklahoma City Thun- der apparently had a bit of an episode this week after a loss.
OKC teammates Dennis Schroder and Deonte Bur- ton had an altercation in the locker room following Wednes- day’s defeat to the Indiana Pac- ers. While it is unknown if the altercation was physical, Schroder supposedly called Burton out for his play.
Earlier in the day Friday, the Thunder had announced a one-game suspension for the sophomore guard Burton for “conduct detrimental to the team.” Schroder was not sus- pended however.
Burton served his suspen- sion during OKC’s 139-127 win in overtime against the Min- nesota Timberwolves.
Gregg Popovich: David Fizdale Firing Is ‘Ridiculous’
DAVID FIZDALE
David Fizdale was fired by the New York Knicks on Fri- day, and the move did not go over well with many.
Most recognize the Knicks have a poorly constructed ros- ter, bad owner, and team that hasn’t won more than 32 games for five straight years. They view Fizdale as a scape- goat for the organization’s problems. Gregg Popovich certainly thinks so.
The San Antonio Spurs head coach weighed in on the Fizdale firing when speaking with the media on Friday. He called it “ridiculous” and “un- fair.”
He’s right. This was only Fizdale’s second season as the team’s head coach. You’re expecting a huge turnaround after one and a quarter sea- sons, especially after stocking your roster with tons of power forwards in free agency? It’s lu- nacy.
But after eight straight losses, two of which came by blowout, the Knicks felt some- one had to be accountable, and that’s why they fired Fizdale.
Winless in more than two years, Henrik Stenson found himself in the middle of a wild chase to the finish Saturday with Tiger Woods and the elite in golf all around him.
Five players had a chance to win in the final hour. Four had at least a share of the lead at one point.
One swing changed everything.
"The shot of the day," Stenson said.
He drilled a 5-wood from 259 yards to within inches of the hole for a tap-in eagle on the par-5 15th, going from a 1-shot deficit to a 1-shot lead. Three pars gave him a 6- under 66 and a victory in the Hero World Challenge he might not have seen coming.
Stenson tied for 44th two weeks ago in Dubai and
spent a few hours on the range that afternoon with swing coach Pete Cowen. He carried some of that to the Bahamas, and his nerves held up at Albany Golf Club.
"Sometimes, just keep on working hard and grinding it out," Stenson said. "Confi- dence can still be a little higher, but I'm really happy with the way I hung in there."
Woods fell out with a chip that didn't make it up the slope on the 14th hole, and he had to scramble for bogey. Justin Thomas had a pair of 12-foot birdie putts burn the edge. Defending champion Jon Rahm, in his final event before getting married in Spain, appeared to seize control with a birdie- eagle-birdie stretch to take the lead on the 16th hole.

For Knicks Head
Coaching Job
Metta World Peace re- ally wants to coach the New York Knicks.
After David Fizdale’s firing on Friday, World Peace immediately took to Twitter to suggest himself for the vacant head coaching po- sition. He promised to bring a “street mentality” back to the organization.
No, this is almost cer- tainly not going to happen, but it’s funny, and it certainly wouldn’t be boring. He even thinks he’d end up winning a title, so you certainly can’t knock the confidence.
It’s worth remembering that World Peace wanted the Knicks job after their last

coaching change, too. The man is nothing if not com- mitted to fighting for the job, even if he’s never going to get it. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a future in the industry, though — just not this job. Not yet, anyway.
