Independence Day: Resurgence- Two decades after the first Independence Day invasion, the planet Earth is faced with another attack by aliens. The crew (Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth,Bill Pullam and Jessie T. Usher) must come up with a plan to stop them. This movie was flat out terrible. I see why Will Smith passed on this awful script. Director Roland Emmerich (Day After Tomorrow) misstepped on this film. Don't waste your money. Trust me. Wait for it on DVD. Made $72M (budget-$165M) - *
Free State Of Jones- As the civil war divides the nation, a Confederate Army deserter Newton Knight (Matthew McConaughey) leads a group of slaves and rebels against the Confederate Army. The Shallows- Surfer Nancy (Blake Lively) is attacked by a great white shark 200 yards from the shore. She must figure out a way to get off the giant rock in the ocean and get back on land safely. Central Intelligence- After being bullied in high school, Bob Stone ( Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) finds his old school pal Calvin Joyner (Kevin Hart) through facebook. The mild mannered Joyner is lured into the world of international espionage. Surprisingly funny because of Johnson’s goofy acting and Hart’s craziness. Must see for laughs. Made $91M (budget-$50M)- ****
Finding Dory- The friendly-but forgetful Blue Tang fish Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres) reunite with Nemo and his father (voiced by Albert Brooks) to find Dory’s family. Disney scores again with this family friendly animation. Still No. 1 at the box office- $372M (budget- N/A)- ****
The Conjuring 2- Based on a true story in 1977, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga) come out of retirement to travel to Enfield, London to save a little girl who starts to show signs of demonic possession. The single mother of four and the Warrens must save them- selves when the spirit goes after them. Definitely, not for kids. This movie was really creepy. Led by the king (Dominic Cooper) and a fierce warrior (Travis Fimmel) with a few allies( Paula Patton, Ben Foster, and Ben Schnetzer) must try to defend their land.
