Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Tampa Alumnae Chapter Hosts Spoken Word Event

  Second annual event cel- ebrates life expressions through poetry, dance and music
The Tampa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will host a spoken word event on Sat- urday,May5at5p.m.atthe Charles Davis Conference Center (formerly the College Hill Conference Center), 1002 E. MLK Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33603.
Now in its second year, the family-friendly event is free and open to the public. Reservations may be made at Eventbrite.com.
Poets interested in per- forming in the open mic
portion of the evening may register on the day of the event at 4:30 p. m. All per- formed works should en- compass the event theme, “Expressions of Determina- tion Strength and Triumph: Encouraging those who Cry in the Dark.”
The event will feature po- etry performances from well-known Bay Area spo- ken word artists.
Dr. Katurah Jenkins- Hall and Phillip Scott will serve as emcees.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Barney Barnett, Vice Chairman of Publix Super Markets, Inc., was honored on Friday, April 20th, dur- ing the Florida TaxWatch Spring Meeting Awards in Orlando, FL. Barney Barnett has previously served as Florida TaxWatch Chair- man and has been a long- time member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees. Mr. Barnett has also served as Vice Chairman of Publix Super Markets, Inc. since 1998, and has been a Pub- lix Board member since 1985.
