Black Woman To Receive
Cecil B. DeMille Award
Oprah Winfrey has been honored by the Holly- wood Foreign Press Associa- tion (HFPA) by receiving the group’s Cecil B. DeMille Award at next month’s Golden Globe Awards ceremony.
The Association determines the nominees for the awards show, selected the media mogul for the prestigious honor ahead of the ceremony in January.
The award annually recog- nizes an individual for “out- standing contributions to the world of entertainment,” and Winfrey certainly fits the bill.
“As a global media leader, philanthropist, producer and actress, she has created an un- paralleled connection with people around the world, mak- ing her one of the most re- spected and admired figures

today,” HFPA President Meher Tatna said in a state- ment.
Winfrey is the first Black woman to receive the honor, and the 15th woman since the award was initially handed out in 1952.
Current Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson an- nounced his plans to sell the NFL team after he faced alle- gations of sexual misconduct and using racial slurs.
Less than an hour after the announcement Diddy had a pair of tweets of his own. The first asked his 13.9 million fol- lowers to “spread the word” of his interest, with, as of this
writing, over 40,000 Twitter users complying.
The Bad Boy founder also posted a video on Instagram. The message included Diddy expressing interest in signing quarterback Colin Kaeper- nick to the Panthers.
"I will immediately address the Colin Kaepernick situa- tion and put him in the run- ning for next year’s starting
quarterback," stated the native New Yorker.
Kaepernick has accused NFL owners of colluding to- gether to keep him out of the league because of his knee- kneeling protest against police brutality and racial injustice. He opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers in March and has not been signed by a team since.

The latest detail in the cold case involving the beloved rap- per was discovered after an A&E producer for the “Who Killed Tupac? series found documents outlining the gun’s disappear- ance.
In 1998, an unidentified citi- zen called Compton police after finding a .40 caliber Glock in his backyard. Police arrived and records show the handgun was booked on May 30, 1998 as found property.

the Compton Police Department and confiscated about 3,800 firearms, including the Glock used in Tupac’s murder. All the guns were transported.
In 2006, Deputy T. Bren- nan, who was also working the Biggie Smalls case, began combing through records and recognized the address where the gun was originally found to be the home of a Crip gang member who allegedly had is- sues with the “Dear Mama” singer.
Brennan ordered ballistics testing and the results matched the Glock used to kill Tupac. Reportedly, a federal prosecutor assigned to the case claimed news of the gun’s discovery would alert conspirators and or- dered the gun not be transported to the Las Vegas Police Depart- ment. Tupac’s brother was said to be frustrated that a vital piece of evidence in his brother’s case was not handled properly.
