Ciara And Russell Wilson Launch Why Not You Academy, ‘First Of Many’ Public Charter Schools
RUSSELL WILSON AND CIARA
Ciara and Russell Wil- son are the latest celebrities to fund a charter school, a move they say extends the couple’s philanthropic com- mitment to education.
Through their Why Not You Foundation, a nonprofit aimed at improving education access, bolstering children’s health and fighting poverty, Wilson and Ciara will pro- vide $1.75 million to help re- vamp the Cascade Midway Academy in Des Moines, Wash., just south of Seattle.
The charter high school will open in fall 2021 under a new name, the Why Not You Academy, and welcome a freshman class of 100. Ac- cording to the Seattle News Tribune, it will operate as a tuition-free public high school, and Wilson and Ciara will not be involved in the school’s day-to-day oper- ations.
In an interview with the Associated Press, the couple said the school would focus on underserved Black and Latinx students, foreground- ing academics, personalized student plans, internships and mentorships. They also hope to expand the Why Not You Academy, eventually set- ting up campuses throughout the country.
“I’m really confident...about the team that we have here and how we’re building things out,” Ciara told the AP. “We’re passionate about everything. We’re all in on this.”

Living With Tom
Brady In Tampa
Tom Brady is really on board with Antonio Brown. So much that he has re- portedly invited him into his
home.
According to Jay Glazer
of Fox Sports, Brown has been living in Brady’s Tampa home as he prepares to join the Tampa Bay Bucca- neers on the field. Glazer also reports that Brown joined the Bucs in game shape and will be on the field in three-receiver sets for his Week 9 debut against New Orleans Saints.
Brown signed with the Buccaneers last week as his eight-game NFL suspension approached its end. He is eli- gible to play next week.
Brown was suspended after a January dispute with a moving company driver that resulted in burglary and bat- tery charges. Brown pleaded no contest and was sentenced to community service and two years probation.

in a series of off-field troubles for Brown that include mul- tiple allegations of rape and sexual misconduct. The last time Brown was in the NFL, he was released by both the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots by Week 3 of the 2019 season.
The Raiders jettisoned Brown before he ever played a game with Oakland after a hectic offseason that soured his relationship with the team.
Brown then signed with the Patriots, where he played one game before being re- leased amid the rape allega- tions.
