Bucs Escape From New York With Sixth Win, First Place
TOM BRADY
Stanton Keeps Contract, $218M For 7 Years, Stays With Yanks
GIANCARLO STANTON Giancarlo Stanton is
keeping the remaining $218 million and seven guaranteed years in his New York Yankees contract rather than opt out after a pair of injury-deci- mated seasons.
The slugging designated hitter hit .266 with 38 homers and 100 RBIs in his first sea- son with the Yankees in 2018. He batted .288 with three homers and 13 RBIs in 2019, when he was limited to 18 games by a left biceps strain that sidelined him from April 1 to June 18 and a right knee strain that kept him out from June 26 to Sept. 1.
Floyd Mayweather Shuts Down Questions
     Regarding Gervonta Davis’ Future:
It wasn't pretty. It was a win, and the Tampa Bay Buc- caneers have equaled the best first-half record in franchise history.
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers stormed back from a 14- 3 first-half deficit to defeat the New York Giants, 25-23 on Monday night at MetLife Sta- dium. The win improved Tampa Bay's record to 6-2 and kept them in first place in the NFC South over the 5-2 New Orleans Saints. The Bucca- neers and Saints will battle for division supremacy next Sun- day night at Raymond James Stadium.
Buccaneers QB Tom
Brady engineered the 38th fourth-quarter comeback win of his career, the second-most in NFL history to Peyton Manning. Brady's 47th game-winning drive ties Dan Marino for the third-most in NFL annals. The comeback was complete when he hit a diving Mike Evans on an eight-yard touchdown pass with four minutes left in the game, completing a six-play, 67-yard drive that followed Sean Murphy-Bunting's first interception of 2020. The Buccaneers overcame a slow start that included an early turnover and issues in and around the red zone.
Gervonta Davis just un- veiled one of the best per- formances of his career as he knocked out Leo Santa Cruz in the sixth round of their main-event clash to be- come the WBA two-divisional champion. Although it was a sensational win for ‘Tank,’ he still had to fight his way through the contest.
Leo Santa Cruz pushed him to the corner multiple times and dominated the fight until he got slept by Davis. That said, Davis also con- sumed some heavy shots and displayed some major war marks on his face. While he registered the 24th victory of his professional career, people have already poised him against other contenders of the lightweight unit.
Davis has been touted to go against several champions like Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia in the past. Thus, the fight-talks are back in rele- vancy after his recent win over Santa Cruz.
FLOYD MAYWEATHER AND GERVONTA DAVIS
Although nothing is offi- cial yet, fans and media ana- lysts have enquired for some possible names from the WBA two-division champion him- self. However, Davis doesn’t want to do that. For the tim- ing, he wants to enjoy his win before getting to the fight mode again.
In the post-fight press con- ference, Floyd Mayweather accompanied Gervonta Davis and answered a bunch of questions. When asked about his next opponent, Mayweather appeared vexed and clarified that he doesn’t want to pull that off instantly.
