MS. RUTH (PEACHES) LAVERNE SMITH
Services for Ms. Ruth (Peaches) Laverne Smith, will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 1 p. m., at Mt. Tabor M. B. Church, 2606 W. Grace Street, Tampa, FL 33607, with Pastor T. D. Leonard, officiat- ing
Ms. Ruth (Peaches) Laverne Smith was born on May 18, 1960 in Portsmouth, VA, to the late Mary and Charles Smith, Sr. Ruth, affectionately known as “Peaches,” was a native of Tampa, FL and a resident for 56 years. She had recently relo- cated to Denton, TX. She at- tended the public schools of Hillsborough County, and re- ceived her Associates Degree at Hillsborough Community Col- lege.
She was a faithful member of Mount Tabor M. B. Church for 35 years. Ruth was an active and dedicated member and served as President/worker of the Healthcare Ministry in her local church, and was the Con- gress #6 President. She was em- ployed as a Pharmacy Technician at Tampa General Hospital, where she retired after 31 years of service. After retiring she continued to busy
herself working for Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office as a Crossing Guard for several years and The Florida State Fair.
Ruth, a former resident of Tampa, FL, but most recently resided in Denton, TX, peace- fully transitioned on Saturday, October 31, 2020, in the comfort of her home with her 2 daugh- ters and her son in love.
She was preceded in death by: her mother, Mary Smith, her father Charles Smith, Sr., a grandson, J’vhen Bishop.
“Peaches” was full of life, and her infectious smile could warm any heart.
She leaves to cherish pre- cious memories: 2 loving daugh- ters, Natashia Mungin Jones (Tampa, FL), and Erica (Eu- gene) McKinnie (Denton, TX); (like daughters), Chyna Walker and Dana Long (both of Tampa); 1 sister, Shelia Smith (Tampa); 1 brother, Charles Smith, Jr, (Chesapeake, VA), grandchil- dren, Devaraye Mungin, Qwate- sha Mungin, Dwayne Mungin (all of Tampa), and Takkarri Mungin (Tallahassee FL), Are- ona Dixon, Keevonna Wilson (both of Miami, FL), Taryo “Mario” Johnson (Tampa); great-grands, Kynnadi, De- varaye, Jr., and Javaraye Mun- gin (all of Tampa); nieces, Diane (Karm) McGill (Tampa), Ivory Dupree, Joanne Banks, Sheila Alvin, Frechon Nixon, Keona Wilson, and Latoya Jones (all of Portsmouth, VA); nephews, (like a son) Cornelius “Gene” (Angela) Smith, Tony Veal (all of Tampa), Charles Hawkins, Deon Hawkins, Ramond Pelham, Kenneth Banks, Damion Wilson (all of Portsmouth, VA); as well as a host of great nieces, nephews, and cousins; devoted friends: Tresa Clark, Dorothy Gage, Helen Bullock, WIA Min- istry, Healthcare Ministry, and the entire Mt. Tabor M. B. Church family.

The family of Fred Berry, Jr., wishes to extend and acknowl- edge to all our many friends and family our heartfelt gratitude for the many calls, visits, kind words and other acts of kindness rendered during the demise of our loved one.
A Cremation Memorial Service was performed on October 3, 2020, at Harmon Funeral Home. Fred entered eternal peace on September 21, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
