LeBron James Creates First Highlights
As Laker In Preseason Debut
LEBRON JAMES
LeBron James' first game with his third franchise opened up with a pair of high- light-worthy plays in the Los Angeles Lakers' preseason debut against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
True to form, James' first tally in the stat book as a Laker was an assist off a no- look, wraparound bounce pass that found Brandon In- gram for a dunk.
Less than a minute later, following a Rajon Rondo of- fensive rebound and pitch out, James stroked a 26-foot 3- pointer with 9:12 remaining in the first quarter, securing his first bucket with his new team.
"It was great to get back on the floor and start a new jour- ney for myself," James said after the Lakers' 124-107 loss was over.
Before tipoff there was framed artwork stationed out- side the Lakers' locker room at the Valley View Casino Center drawn up like a concert poster commemorating "LeBron James' Los Angeles Lakers Debut," with James' image front and center, flanked by an artist's rendering of Lonzo Ball, Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart around him.

     Soccer Superstar Cristiano
After a triumphant victory a week ago in which he stood on the 18th green in Atlanta with his arms raised in glory, Tiger Woods never even made it to the 18th hole at Le Golf National during the Ryder Cup.
With the European cele- bration engulfing the green, Woods could only take off his cap and wish congratula- tions to the victors before re- treating to a spot off to the side with his girlfriend, Erica Herman. He got pats on the shoulder from several Euro- pean players, including Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose. His return to the competition ended with a thud on the 17th
green Sunday as Spain's Jon Rahm closed out a 2-and-1 victory over Woods with an emphatic iron shot to close range and a birdie.
Undeniably spent after the emotion of his win a week ago and an 18-tournament schedule, Woods would not gosofarastosayhewashurt or diminished, hinting only that something was missing in France.
"It's been a long grind,'' Woods said in a brief inter- view. "This is my seventh out of ninth week I believe. I've been grinding at it, working at it for a long time. And un- fortunately here, I just didn't get it done.''
Ronaldo Sued Over Alleged Rape
In Las Vegas Hotel Room
A woman has accused Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the world's biggest soccer stars, of raping her in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.
Kathryn Mayorga says the Portuguese footballer, who now plays for Italian club Ju- ventus, raped her while she re- peatedly screamed no, according to a lawsuit filed Fri- day in Clark County, Nevada.
After the attack, according to the lawsuit, Ronaldo apol- ogized, "stating he was sorry, he was usually a gentleman." The lawsuit alleges that Ronaldo told his represena- tives that "she said 'no' and 'stop' several times."
Mayorga's lawsuit ac- cuses Ronaldo, 33, and his team of taking advantage of her fragile emotional state to coerce her into signing a settle- ment and nondisclosure agree- ment in 2009. She claims she received $375,000 in exchange for her silence. Her lawsuit seeks to void the settlement and agreement.

tives denied the rape allega- tions when German publica- tion Der Spiegel first reported them in 2017. After the outlet broke news of the lawsuit Fri- day in an interview with May- orga, Ronaldo's lawyer called the reporting "blatantly illegal."
Ronaldo appeared to dis- pute the claims in an Insta- gram live post on Friday: "What they said today, fake -- fake news. They want to pro- mote by my name. It's normal. They want to be famous -- to say my name. Yeah but it's part of the job. I'm (a) happy man and all, all good."
Renaldo’s net worth is $400 million.
