Nelly And Alleged Rape Victim Reach Settlement
Tiffany Haddish And Kevin Hart’s ‘Night School’ Squashes ‘Smallfoot’ With $28M
Even an adorable Yeti was no match for the comedic team of Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart.
Universal’s comedy “Night School” topped the domestic box office with $28 million from 3,010 locations. Fellow newcomer “Small- foot,” Warner Bros.’ ani- mated family film, came in close behind with $23 mil- lion when it launched in 4,100 venues. The two movies both launched on par with initial projections from industry analysts, helping drive the second-best Sep- tember of all time in North America, according to com- Score. The biggest Septem- ber still belongs to 2017, bolstered by the massive showing of Warner Bros.’ “It.”
“Night School,” which
TIFFANY HADDISH AND KEVIN HART
cost $29 million to produce, marks the biggest debut of the year for a broad comedy. The PG-13 film reunites Haddish with “Girls Trip” director Malcolm D. Lee and producer Will Packer. “Night School,” however, didn’t garner the same criti- cal praise as “Girls Trip.” It generated a low 31% average on Rotten Tomatoes, whereas “Girls Trip” boasts a
90% certified fresh rating. With “Night School,” Uni- versal now holds the three biggest original comedic openings of the past two years, along with “Blockers”
and “Girls Trip.”
The studio’s head of do-
mestic distribution, Jim Orr, attributes the success to the team both in front of and behind the camera.
“Night School” looks to be another win for Haddish, who continues to prove her big screen bankability. That’s good news for studios since the comedian has a slew of ti- tles hitting multiplexes in the coming months. The comedic dynamo has “The Oath” with Ike Barinholtz, Tyler Perry’s “Nobody’s Fool,” and a voice role in Warner Bros.’ “The Lego Movie 2” on the horizon.
Kanye West Stirs More Outrage With 13th Amendment, Slavery Tweets
Another day, another Kanye West controversy.
Fresh off of stirring out- rage with his "Saturday Night Live" speech about President Donald Trump after the show went off the air this weekend, the rapper took to social media to offer his thoughts about the 13th Amendment.
Kanye West goes on a Trump rant from 'SNL' stage as show ends.
In a tweet which showed him appearing to be on a private plane while wearing a "Make America Great Again" cap, West wrote, "This represents good and America becoming whole again."
"We will no longer out- source to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs," West tweeted. "We will pro- vide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Mes- sage sent with love."
The 13th Amendment was ratified in 1865 and abolished slavery.
KANYE WEST
Later Ye returned to twitter with a clarification.
‘The 13th Amendment is slavery in disguise meaning it never ended We are the solution that heals.”
Naturally, Twitter ex- ploded with many people of- fering the same sentiment: "What the hell are you talk- ing about?"
A few fellow celebs also took West to task.
"There's nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn't know history, doesn't read books, and frames their myopia as virtue," actor Chris Evans wrote while retweeting the
controversial rapper. "The level of unapologetic conjec- ture I've encountered lately isn't just frustrating, it's ret- rogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying."
Singer Lana Del Rey re- sponded in the comments on West's official Instagram account.
"Trump becoming our president was a loss for the country but your support of him is a loss for the culture," she wrote. "I can only as- sume you relate to his per- sonality on some level. Delusions of Grandeur, ex- treme issues of narcissism - none of which would be a talking point if we weren't speaking about the man leading our country."
"If you think it's alright to support someone who be- lieves it's OK to grab a woman by the p**** just be- cause he's famous-then you need an intervention as much as he does - something so many narcissists will never get because there just isn't enough help for the issue," she added.
Nelly and Monique Greene, the woman who claimed he raped her on a tour bus in the Seattle area last October, have reached a settlement regarding their re- spective lawsuits.
Although the criminal case against Nelly was dropped after Greene re- fused to cooperate with po- lice, the alleged victim sued him for defamation. The plat- inum-selling rapper re- sponded with a countersuit, claiming he was being de- famed since the two had con- sensual sex.
Nelly’s lawyer told re- porters that both sides agreed to dismiss their suits and no money was exchanged. Greene’s attorney, Karen Koehler, confirmed both parties dismissed the cases but refuted the claim that no money was involved in the settlement.
Nelly was accused of sex- ual assault by 21-year-old Monique Greene and sub- sequently arrested last Octo- ber. Now, two more women have come forward asserting the multi-platinum-selling rapper sexually assaulted
NELLY
them as well. New court doc- uments filed earlier this week claim Nelly has made a habit out of inviting fans backstage where he touches them inap- propriately and, in some cases, masturbates in front of them.
The document includes another incident involving two women from the United Kingdom, identified as Jane Doe 1 and 2, who allege Nelly assaulted them while he was overseas. One of them women says the 43-year-old artist called her a “cunt” after not consenting to intercourse.
Greene’s attorney said one accuser is a sergeant in the U.S. military, while the other is an English mother who doesn’t want to relive the trauma of what allegedly hap- pened to her.
  Here's Why Drake And
Post Malone Weren't On Lil
Wayne's ‘Tha Carter V’
Post Malone was report- edly added to Lil Wayne’s long awaited album, Tha Carter V, the night before it was released. But when the 23-track project arrived, Post’s name was noticeably absent.
Drake, who was also ru- mored to be on the album, didn’t make the final cut ei- ther. Both artists were sup- posed to appear on the “What About Me” track, according to Johnny Yukon who co- wrote the song.
“The initial idea was to get Drake on it,” Yukon said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “That was something [Lil Wayne] said to me that night [he recorded his vo- cals]... Then there were emails back and forth—‘They think Drake’s going to get on it.’”
“The last thing we heard about it, around a year and a half ago, while we were send- ing the song back and forth, making edits .... at that point, the emails were like, ‘Drake’s
LIL WAYNE
gonna cut to it’ [...] I don’t know what happened. We didn’t find out that Drake was officially not going to be on it until this week.”
After finding out Drake wasn’t going to be on the song, Wayne started hunting for another artist to take his place and that’s when they de- cided on Posty.
Despite the hiccups, Tha C5 was delivered as promised on Weezy’s 36th birthday and featured Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, the late XXXTENTACION and more.
