   ‘East Tampa Rocks’ Resource And Education Fair To Be
National
LaTrice Burnette Appointed Executive Vice President At Island Records

Funeral service for Mr. Raymond Hopkins will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 11 a. m., at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida with Rev. Dr. W. James Favorite, officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Raymond Hopkins was born in Tampa, Florida, on Au- gust 5, 1931. He attended pub- lic schools in Hillsborough County and graduated from Middleton High School in 1949. He worked for Southern Cross as a long distance truck driver and he retired from the International Longshoremen’s Association, Local #1402, after 25 years of service.
Raymond had a generous heart and always shared food with neighbors and friends. He also sponsored the Easter Sunday Breakfast at Beulah Baptist Institutional Church for the past 15 years. His fa- vorite hobbies were cooking/barbecuing and gar- dening.
His demise came on Thurs- day, September 27, 2018, and he was preceded in death by: his parents, King David and Ethel Hopkins.
Mr. Hopkins is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Betty Jo Hopkins; five children, Joyce Hopkins, Rolanda Berry (Michael), Linda Hopkins, Wanda Hopkins and Toni Jackson (Antonio); two step- children, Vickye Byron and Douglas Shiggs (Brenda); eleven grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; one sis- ter, Rachel Hopkins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home from 5 – 8 p. m.
Friends are asked to as- semble at the chapel on Thurs- day at approximately 10:45 a. m. for the service.

Hillsborough County Pub- lic Schools Sanchez Full Serv- ice Center invites students and families, as well as, the com- munity to join them for the “East Tampa Rocks” Resource and Education Fair. The event will be held on Saturday, Oc- tober6,2018,from9A.M.–1 P. M. at the HCPS Sanchez Full Service Center, 2100 E. 26th Avenue, Tampa Florida 33610. The Sanchez Full Service Center facility is lo- cated directly behind the Lee Davis Community Resource Center.
The “East Tampa Rocks” event will mark a day of cele- bration and will include: edu- cational activities, health screenings, entertainment, music by a local DJ, access to community partners, face painting and additional activ- ities led by local fire depart- ment and police department. Refreshments will be provided along with opportunities to win a variety of prizes. This is a free event; however, chil- dren must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The mission of the School District of Hillsborough County Full Service Center is to serve as a support to schools primarily located in
East and West Tampa com- munities, which also includes the Achievement Schools. Full Service Centers will pro- vide Hillsborough County Dis- trict students, along with their families, academic, advocacy and support within our dis- trict that is necessary to achieving success.
The purpose of the event is to coordinate the services of multiple agencies by develop- ing partnerships to provide accessible, quality support to families and individuals who are working toward increased self-sufficiency; as well as, personal and professional productivity.
The Full Service Center(s) is comprised of two sites, one in East Tampa (Sanchez FSC), and one in West Tampa (Just FSC). The Hillsborough County Public Schools Full Service Centers prepare par- ents to prepare their children for life.

Island Records announced LaTrice Burnette, an ac- complished marketing, artist development and digital busi- ness executive, has been ap- pointed Executive Vice President and General Man- ager. She joins the iconic label’s senior management team.
Ms. Burnette, who will be based in New York, will work across the label’s artist roster and report directly to Darcus Beese, President of Island Records.
Beese said of the appoint- ment, “Success isn’t always about the roster, it’s also about the staff. When I had the op- portunity to meet with La- Trice and discuss my vision and her ambition, it was crys- tal clear that LaTrice is the future of the new generation of Island Records. She will be an invaluable new member of the senior team. With LaTrice and Eric Wong, I believe we have the best executive team in the business.”
Ms. Burnette said, “I am absolutely thrilled to join the family at Island Records, a label rich in culture and a place where true artistry, artist development and most of all, music, reign supreme.

Ms. Burnette joins the Island family after eight years at Epic Records, most recently as Senior Vice President of Marketing, where among her many achievements she was instrumental in the record- setting album release strategy that resulted in Future becom- ing the first artist in the 60 year history of the Billboard 200 to have two different back to back albums debut at No. 1.
Ms. Burnette also spear- headed marketing campaigns for DJ Khaled, Travis Scott, Yo Gotti, Nick Grant, Bobby Shmurda, Blac Youngsta, Ciara, Diddy, and more. She was named to Billboard’s 2017 40 Under 40 of music’s top young power players list.
