A set of twins who devel- oped an interest in volleyball 6 years ago, will be sharing those skills with the volley- ball team at Tugaloo College. They signed with the college on Wednesday.
Kayelyn and Kierstin Salley were born in Brandon and raised by their mother, Theon Salley. They are mentored by their aunt, Sab- rina Salley.
The young ladies got their first interest in volleyball after watching all of the ac- tion during the 2012 Olympics. Being middle school age at that time, they began playing at their middle school, where they earned the name “Twin Towers” from their coaches and spectators alike.
Both girls played volley- ball in middle school, and when Kierstin made the Varsity Volleyball team at Strawberry Crest, the girls’ passion for the game intensi- fied.
The girls switched schools and found themselves with the opportunity to attend Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School and they jumped at it.
Kayelyn and Kierstin have been playing club vol- leyball for 2 years with the Tampa Bay Raptors, where they met their coaches, Cookie and Mark Mitchell. Coach Cookie
