Detectives with the Tampa Police Department are con- tinuing their search for a hit and run driver. The accident took place last weekend at the intersection of N. 26th Street and E. Columbus Driver.
According to Tampa Po- lice, shortly after 2 a.m., last Saturday, 52-year-old Arte- mus Leon Holley was at the
intersection when he was struck by a Jeep that con- tained a driver and a passen- ger. Holley died as a result of his injuries.
A spokesperson for the de- partment said that the inves- tigation into the traffic fatality is continuing. However, no arrests have been made.
Prior to the accident, offi-

cers on patrol witnessed a ve- hicle driving erratically with its headlights off near N. 22nd Street and E. 7th Avenue. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled the scene. The officers did not at- tempt to follow the vehicle.
A few minutes later, an ac- cident took place at the inter- section of N. 26th Street and E. Columbus Drive. When offi- cers arrived, they discovered it was the same vehicle the of- ficers had observed earlier. After the accident, the driver and the passenger fled the scene, leaving the rented Jeep behind.
Police located the uniden- tified passenger of the Jeep, but he was not cooperating with police. Detectives are asking anyone with informa- tion about the accident to contact Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873- TIPS, or www.crimestopper- stb.com.
