Sorority’s Celebrate Local Chapter’s 15th Anniversary With Luncheon
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
For years, the membership of the Tampa Alumnae of Delta Sigma Sorority, Inc., ex- perienced rapid growth. Its membership swelled to the point that it was necessary to create a sister chapter.
The responsibility for suc- cessfully dividing the organi- zation was spearheaded by three longtime members, the late Mrs. Altamese Hamil- ton, Mrs. Ollie H. Hunter, and Dr. Sandra Wilson. Under their guidance, the Tampa Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter, Inc., of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., (TMAC) came into existence.
A total of 63 women from Hillsborough and Pasco Coun- ties were on hand when it was chartered on April 21, 2003.
It has been 15 years since the second chapter was launched.
