MR. CARL EDWARD CHESTER
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Carl Edward Chester of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 will be held Friday, Janu- ary 26th, 11 a. m. at Aikens Fu- neral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Jimmy Horton, officiating. The interment will be in Lang Ceme- tery, Brooksville, Florida.
Carl Edward Chester was the second child born to Willie and Julia Chester, on May 20, 1939 in Brooksville, FL. The Chester family moved to Tampa in 1941. Carl attended Don Thompson High School where he played football and was a member of their last graduating class of 1956.
In 1961, Carl and Emma Williams were blessed with the birth of his only child, a son, Carlton Chester. The following year he married Queene Hardy Chester, who preceded him in death in 1997, after 35 years of marriage.
Carl enjoyed cars, fishing, bowling, sports, ping pong, dominoes and playing cards. He was always a willing player at the card table at all the family reunions. Carl, also for a short period, boxed professionally and this earned him the nick- name “Boxer.” Carl was a hard worker. He was employed with Dixie Lily for a year, then went to Winn–Dixie where he stayed for eleven years. He then started with Kash n’ Karry as an hourly employee and moved up to a su- pervisor. He retired after 31 years in early 2000.
In retirement Carl had two special friends, Joe White and Ethel Simpson. Joe was always assisting Carl by taking him to doctor’s appointments and checking on his well-being daily. Ethel was like his right hand. There was nothing Ethel would not do for Carl. She encouraged him to eat right, even when he didn’t want to. Ethel would visit him in the hospital, making sure he was getting the proper care and attention. She kept him on the straight and narrow.
His parents, Willie and Julia Chester and sister, Betty Lynn preceded Carl in death.
Carl Chester leaves to cher- ish his memories with: his son, Carlton Chester; granddaugh- ter, Jasmine Chester; brothers, Willie Chester (Betty), Clarence Chester, Robert Chester (Ethel), Earnest Chester, Sr. (Karen); sisters, Shirley Thomas, Dorothy Franklin, Delphine Motley (Jack), Barbara Smith (Roderick); aunt, Vera Chester; nieces, Porshia Chester, Jamessa Clark (Howard), Gale Philson, Chevelle Lynn, Valerie Jenkins (Harold), Tammy N’u- man (Daab), Stephanie Brown

MR. RONALD WINKFIELD
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Ronald “Wayne Dang” Wink- field of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 will be held Thursday, January 25th, 11 a. m. at Aikens Fu- neral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. James Leon Gallon officiating. The inter- ment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
Ronald “Wayne Dang” Wink- field, age 72, was called to rest and entered through the gates of heaven on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Ronald was born on August 6, 1945 in Moultrie, GA (Colquitt County), and later relocated with his parents to Tampa, FL where he grew up in the Progress Village community.
Ronald attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a proud graduate of the renowned Howard W. Blake High School, class of 1964. Soon after graduation, Ronald enlisted into the United States Army deployed to serve in the Vietnam War. He was recognized for several honors and medals including the Na- tional Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Viet- nam Campaign Medal w/60 De- vice.
In 1973, Ronald was awarded the Character of Service “Honor- able Discharge” for his service to the United States of America.
Ronald accepted the Lord early in life. Throughout his walk of Christian faith, he served as both Sunday School Superintend- ent and Sunday School Teacher. He continued being a dedicated servant when unable to attend church by hosting church services in his front yard under the oak trees with his friends and family – “where two or more are gathered in my name I will be in the midst.” Ronald further displayed his ded- ication as a servant of the Lord by caring for his elderly father, Cole- man Haggins, Sr. and later his younger brother, Coleman “Bobo” Haggins, Jr. until the de- mise of each of them.
Ronald had a passion for driv- ing trucks and traveling the road, so he sought out a career with the Tampa Tribune where he held the position of driver until his retire- ment from that company after 15 years. He then proudly estab- lished Winkfield Transport, Inc. as Owner/Operator. He was also employed with Gray Truck Lines for a few years prior to retire- ment.
Ronald’s greatest passion was fishing. He enjoyed catching, cleaning and most favorite, hav- ing an old-fashioned fish fry with all the trimmings! He had fishing down to a science. He calculated the moons, the tides, the direction
of the winds, the seasons, the bait and lures, and night fishing vs. day fishing. Gifted in more ways than one, Ronald had the ability to bring laughter and light to any situation. Ronald’s love, spiritu- ality, loyalty and entertaining ways, were admired among his family and friends. So much so, Ronald would deem each family member and friend with a “unique” nickname that was a special bond between only him and that person. Ronald was a giving man. You could not visit him without him not giving you something to leave with. It could have been something as simple as a calendar, but he had to give his friends, family and even strangers, something. Ronald was a loving father, devoted brother, loyal friend and neigh- bor.
Preceding him in death are: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cole- man, Sr. and Helen Haggins; younger brother, Coleman “Bobo” Haggins, Jr.; and younger sister, Valerie Yvette Haggins.
Ronald established many friendships and special bonds with various departments at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital throughout his care: Colleen Jakey, MD and surgical team; Michael Shafique and Oncology team; The Veterans Transporta- tion Department (VTS) and driv- ers; Delta team and Esther Caba; Home health nurse Mirta Santi- ago; Hillsborough County De- partment of Aging (Cynthia Smith); Meals on Wheels of Tampa (Jan Castello).
Ronald leaves to cherish his memory and rejoice his life: lov- ing daughters, Veroniya Wink- field (“One”) who was his devoted caretaker, Rhonda Faye Davis, Rosalyn Sheree Hardrick (Amos), and Yolanda Winkfield-Douse; loving grandson, James Hardrick; devoted brother, Alvin M. Haggins, Sr. and wife, Yvonne; loving oldest sister, Juanita Mon- gen; loving sister, Sylvia Prather- Banks; favorite cousins, Wilhemina Raspberry (Willie) of Atlanta, GA, Udella Spicer, Irma Huckaby, both of Moultrie, GA, and Mary McLendon of Tallahas- see, FL; loving nephews, Alvin Haggins, Jr. (AJ) and Alex Hag- gins; special friends, Alvin “Dr. Rev. Deacon, Pastor, The Good Doctor” Richardson, Nathaniel Singletary, Eddie “Too Sweet” Williams, Santi and Marta So- corro, Maria Morffy of D & D De- lights; and a host of loving friends and neighbors in the Progress Village community.
Burial immediately after serv- ice at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell followed by the repast at 3 p. m., Northside Missionary Baptist Church, 5706 N. 40th St., Tampa, FL. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Thursday, January 25th from 10-11 a. m.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Friday for the service.
