MR. EARL MOORE, II
Mr. Earl Moore, II of Riverview, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Au- gust 10th at 12 p. m. at Revealing Truth Ministries, 5201 N. Arme- nia Avenue, Bryan Powe, Senior Pastor, with Pastor Gregory A. Powe, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Earl Moore was born in Thomasville, GA, to Earlie Moore, Sr. and Lula Mae (Hamp- ton) Moore on July 6, 1944. Dur- ing his childhood years, Earl worked alongside his father, a talented brick mason, and brother, Robert, in rural South- west Georgia. In recent years, Earl often reflected on how he as- sisted his father by quickly calcu- lating supplies and cost to do jobs in order to help his father secure the work. The collabora- tive efforts of the trio led to them being highly sought by builders developing the local community.
Earl would later credit this experience as helping to formu- late his strong work ethic, pas- sion for learning, and an aptitude towards mathematics, which followed him throughout his life. A graduate of Middleton High School in Tampa, Earl en- listed in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1961 during the Vietnam War era. He went on to serve for the next 10 years, as a vehicle me- chanic, military policeman, and even played on the military base football team in Japan.
Upon his return to Tampa, Earl went on to work his way through college at the University of South Florida (USF), where he received a degree in Accounting. While at USF, he was a charter member and first president of the Theta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Upon graduation, Earl started his own Accounting firm and thus became one of the few African Americans in Tampa practicing accounting.
In the years that followed he co-founded and served as presi-
dent of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, servicing Tampa’s Black business community. In 1993, he became a licensed Certi- fied Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Florida. Over his 46- year long career as an Accountant and CPA in his own firm, Earl also held various comptroller, auditor, and other positions for Federal, State, and Local governments. Additionally, Earl was instrumen- tal in development of a tax report- ing and financial management protocol for numerous busi- nesses, churches, and other non- profit organizations. As testament to Earl’s entrepreneurship and strong work ethic, he established several businesses in the areas of home health care, mortgage bro- kerage, payroll services, as well as, tax preparation, audit, and ac- counting services.
As a Christian and long-time member of Revealing Truth Min- istries, Earl enjoyed studying and sharing the Holy Bible and spend- ing time with his family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Earlie and Lula Mae (Hampton) Mincey; aunts, Wessie Mae Hampton, Alberta Hampton, Jennie Louise Moore, Inez Mid- dleton; and uncles, Eddie Hamp- ton, William Middleton, Sr., and Eddie Moore, Sr.; his brothers, George Moore, Herbert Moore, Robert Moore, and Darrell Moore; his sisters, Juanita (Moore) Jack- son, Louise (Moore) Cash, and son, James Peterson, Sr.
