Final Preparations Underway For ‘Jazz’n At The Ritz’
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
On Sunday, April 30th, members of the Positive Im- ages Committee will present their signature “Jazz’n At The Ritz” event. It will be held at The Ritz Ybor, 1503 E. 7th Avenue, from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.
As prospective attendees plan their evening, Positive Images members are making last minute arrangements and preparations to ensure those who attend will have an evening to remember.
This is the second time the organization has held the event to provide financial as- sistance to St. Peter Claver Catholic School. They are bringing the event back be- cause it made such a lasting impression upon those who attended it. The first “Jazz’n At The Ritz,” event was held in 2015.
Those who attend will have an opportunity to dress for the occasion in dressy at- tire. And, they will enjoy an evening of jazz. DJ Rock-It- Rod will be on hand, and the duties of Master and Mistress of Ceremonies will be shared by Ms. Donna Douglas, Ms. Eboni Cruz, and Scott Hardy.
The entertainment lineup includes: Ms. Donna Dou- glas, 2 Close, C-Train with Kevin Wilder, The Beat

Down Band, and The Mighty, Good, & Strong. They will have an opportunity to participate in a silent auc- tion raffles for gasoline.
What makes the event unique is that while the guests are having an evening that they will talk about for months to come, they are also helping the children who at- tend St. Peter Claver Catholic School.
St. Peter Claver was estab- lished more than 123 years ago and has provided quality education to impoverished el- ementary school students since its inception. Since its inception, many alumni have gone on to become profes- sionals, role models, and mentors in the community.

of the organization said, “This will be a first-class event that will be remembered for a long time. We have a diverse group of people from all walks of life and all professions participat- ing to make it a great success.
“It’s an opportunity for members of the community to come together and hnot only show their love of jazz, but their love of community as well. We are praying that we can raise at least $25,000 for the school. This event shows that we can help the children attending St. Peter Claver in a positive way.
“There are so many people in the community who went to the school who have be- come great role models and mentors. This is our way of thanking them and keeping the school going.”

said, “I am going to perform as well as share the duties of Mistress of Ceremonies. We are asking for support from the community to make this event a success.
“There are many alumni members who attended the school or parents who paid for their children to attend. We want all of them to get in- volved and come out and have a great time.
“There is going to be good food, a cash bar, lots of jazz and fun. This is going to be a fabulous event.”
The funds raised in 2015, were used to provide a School Psychologist, a pavilion play court, and to build the digital infrastructure.
