Buren Middle School, 8715 North 22nd Street.
The meeting is open to the public and those living in the University Area are encour- aged to attend. The intent of the Program Input Commu- nity Outreach Meeting is to
seek input and to hear about the concerns of the commu- nity before the scheduled opening.
Dr. Larry Sykes, As- sistant Superintendent, Out- reach & School Improvement Adult Career Services Center said, “The importance in at- tending these meetings is to collaborate with different dis- trict divisions where stake- holders can voice their interests and concerns in order to impact high quality, appropriate programming and resources that will lead to student achievement and school/community success.”
Dr. Sykes further stated that schools in the University Area and New Tampa are overcrowded. But Van Buren Middle School is about 40% underutilized. He further said that Cahoon Elementary and Van Buren Middle School are on the same site.
“My office is responsible for making people aware of the changes so that they can attend the meetings and let their voices be heard,” he said.

No discussion of hymn singing is complete without mentioning the moaning and groaning of the metered hymn. The lyrics, “A charge to keep I have, a God to glorify,” can be heard spoken by Deacons and devotional leaders who sin- cerely express the emotions of a people who struggled, yet persevered through difficult experiences.
Written in 1762 by Charles Wesley, the hymn was inspired by Leviticus 8:35 which says, “Therefore shall ye abide at the door of the tabernacle of the congre- gation day and night seven days, and keep the charge of the Lord, that ye die not: for so I am commanded.”
Lyrics
A charge to keep I have,
A God to glorify,
A never-dying soul to save,
and fit it for the sky.
To serve the present age, My calling to fulfill:
Oh, may it all my pow’rs en- gage
To do my Master’s will!
Arm me with jealous care, As in Thy sight to live; And O Thy servant, Lord, prepare
A strict account to give!
Help me to watch and pray, And on Thyself rely, Assured, if I my trust betray, I shall forever die.
