Students Lead Discussion At Community Summit
On Thursday, March 2nd, students from 12 high schools in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties will partic- ipate in GradNation Commu- nity Summit. The Summit will take place at the Hilton Tampa Downtown, 211 N. Tampa Street, from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
The students will discuss challenges and solutions for raising high school gradua- tion rates at the Summit.
Community officials, business leaders, educators, and parents will join the stu- dents as they examine local data, identify challenges, and offer solutions to prepare students for success on their path to graduation and be-
yond.
The sessions include:
“The Power of Youth Voice,” “The Generation Gap,” Crucial Conversa- tions,” “Mapping Com- munity Assets,” “Crossing the Cultural Divide,” and “What I Can’t Tell You.”
The Summit is one of 100 held across the country, but this is the only one that is student-conceived and stu- dent-led. The GradNation Community Summit will serve as a launch pad for the development of a community action plan that outlines how both counties will accelerate efforts to raise the high school graduation rate.
