C. Blythe Andrews, Jr. Public Library Set To Close April 15th For Reconstruction
Other Libraries and alternate sites have been established for the community.
The C. Blythe Andrews, Jr. Public Library, located at 2607 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., will close on Saturday, April 15, 2017, in preparation for the building of a new, 2-story structure. The new building is sched- uled to open in Winter 2018.
Residents in East Tampa needing library services are invited to visit the Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Public Li- brary, 1505 N. Nebraska Ave. (33605), Seminole Heights Branch Library,
4711 Central Ave. (33603), and John F. Germany Li- brary, 900 N. Ashley Dr. (33602).
Alternate Library Sites
Starting May 1st, limited services will be available at: Cyrus Greene Park, 2101 E. Dr. MLK, Jr. Blvd. (33610), Monday, Wednes- dayandFriday–10a.m.to 4p.m.–May1st –May31, 2017, Aug. 14, 2017 – May 31, 2018 and Aug. 6 – Dec. 2018; Ragan Park Com- munity Center, 1200 E. Lake Ave. (33603), Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a. m. – 4 p. m., June 1-August 3, 2017 and June 1, August 2, 2018.

The late Gwendolyn Woods Stephenson, Ph.D. was the longest serv- ing and first female presi- dent of Hillsborough Community College (1997- 2010). Dr. Stephenson was an innovative and in- spiring educator who worked to make higher edu- cation accessible to all and to connect it with the growing needs in Hillsborough County.
Walter Niles’ Interest In Health Leads Him To A New Position

For more than 25 years, Walter W. Niles has been a vocal champion for social justice and health dispari- ties. Around the state, he has involved himself in nu- merous organizations that cover health concerns.
Because of his passion for health, Niles has ac- cepted a new position as the Minority Health Director/Closing the Gap Administrator in the Office of Minority Health and
Health Equity, a state office. He will become a resident of Tallahassee.
In this new position, Niles will oversee health equity initiatives for the Closing the Gap grant pro- gram and Florida Healthy Babies. These projects will be funded through the Clos- ing the Gap grant program.
His work in the Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County, led to the establishment of the first county level Office of Health Equity (OHE), in 2009.
WALTER W. NILES
Prior to entering the health industry, Niles served as the Director of Race Relations for the
Tampa-Hillsborough Urban League, where he facilitated forums on race, racism and health and gender dispari- ties.
A native Floridian and current resident of Tampa, Niles attended Oakwood College (now University) and has a degree in Business Management. He is a grad- uate of the University of Phoenix with an Advanced Leadership degree.
Niles is an Affiliate Pro- fessor at the University of South Florida, College of Public Health, and a Public
Health Leadership Scholar at USF, as well as the Florida Department of Health Institute Leadership. He is a State of Florida Cer- tified Contract Manager.
A much sought-after lec- turer and community ac- tivist, Niles is involved in numerous community or- ganizations and serves on several boards.
Walter is an active member of the Mt. Calvary SDA Church and is married to the former Vivian Reed. They have 4 adult children and 4 grandchildren.
