Accident Leaves Woman Dead, 3 Others Injured
  Links, Inc. To Host 3rd Annual
Charity Golf Tournament
The Tampa Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will be hosting their 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Proceeds from this event will support youth educational initiatives and community programs.
The golf tournament will be held at the Rogers Park Golf Course, 7910 N. 30th St., Tampa 33610.
Nearly 100 golfers have signed up to participate. Registration is at 8:30 a. m. and the shot gun start is at 9 a. m. There will be a car give- away for a hole-in-one win- ner.

A young woman died and three others were injured in a traffic accident. The acci- dent occurred Friday.
According to the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice, police believe Jayson Upshaw, Jr., 22, of Gib- sonton, was driving a Nissan Altima eastbound on Lums- den Road around 6:40 p.m. His passengers were Ms. Saija Iliya Coleman, of Gibsonton, and Dudley Bryant, IV, of Tampa, both 22-years-old.
Robert A. Culhane,
50, of Valrico, was driving a Red Hummer H2 westbound on Lumsden Road. Upshaw reportedly attempted to make a left turn and turned into the path of Culhane’s vehicle.
On impact, the front of the Hummer struck the pas- senger side of the Nissan. The Hummer then rotated and overturned on top of the roof of the Nissan, causing

severe damage to the pas- senger side of the vehicle.
Culhane climbed out of the Hummer and was trans- ported to Brandon Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
Ms. Coleman died at the scene.
Upshaw and Bryant were transported to Tampa General Hospital, where they both were admitted with life-threatening in- juries.
No charges have been filed in the accident and the investigation is continuing.
About Ms. Coleman
Ms. Saija Iliya Cole- man was born on April 12, 1995, in Jamaica Hospital in the Queens, Queens, Ja- maica. She was the first of three children born to Mr. and Mrs. Ilee (Takoma) Coleman.
When she was an infant, her family moved to Tampa, where she attended the pub- lic schools of Hillsborough County. Ms. Coleman

graduated from East Bay High School in 2013.
Donnie Harrison, a family member, described Ms. Coleman as “an outgo- ing people person. But her greatest focus was on chil- dren. She was very adventur- ous. She loved her family, going to the beach, and loved her bunny, “Bibi.” She was dating Jayson Upshaw at the time of her death.”
Ms. Coleman was em- ployed at the Learning Expe- rience Academy as a Teacher’s Aide at the time of her death.
In addition to her par- ents, Ms. Coleman is sur- vived by her sister, Nadja; and brother, Ilee. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. James (Linda) Coleman; Paul Gaymon; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (De- siree) Chatters, and other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Ms. Coleman were incomplete at press time. Blount & Curry Funeral Home is in charge of handling arrangements.
     Students Selected For 2018 All-Florida Academic Team
Thirteen students at Hills- borough Community College (HCC) have been selected as members of the 2018 All- Florida Academic Team. The students are being recognized for their academic achieve- ment, leadership and service to their community.
The Florida College Sys- tem will host an All-Florida Academic Team Awards cer- emony on April 6, 2018, in Tampa, Florida, to recognize these students’ outstanding achievements.
HCC had the largest num- ber of award recipients in the Florida College System.
A total of 132 students
were chosen for the honor. They are nominated by their respective colleges to the All- USA Team competition. It is sponsored by USA Today and the Phi Theta Kappa Interna- tional Honor Society.
The students representing Hillsborough Community College this year are: Ann- Marie Medico, Estefany Rivas Ortiz, Francis Finch, Danae Moss, Luis Mesias, Camila Nakan- dakari, Tiana Callender, Dyan Celne, Justin Coffie, Samuel Lopez, Freyja Cesarsky, Dakota McCollum, and Natalia Felix.
