MRS. BERDIA ANN BROWN
A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Berdia Ann Brown will be held on Friday, May 14th, 2021, at 11 a. m. at Exciting Faith Alive Church, 5705 E. 32nd Avenue, Tampa, Florida, with Pastor An- tonio Hawkins, Officiating. In- terment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery.
Berdia Ann Brown was born on February 26, 1954 in Cleve- land, Ohio to the union of Lillie Kirkland and Claudis Williams. Her mother gave birth to two more children, sisters, Janie and Latenia.
Lillie was called to be with the Lord when Berdia was only fifteen years old. Since she was the oldest, Berdia did her best to look out for her younger sisters, and to keep them together as a family. Berdia graduated from John F. Kennedy High School, and continued her education at Kent State University.
She was joined in marriage with Carley Edward Brown, Sr. in 1973, and within that union was blessed with a son, Carley, Jr. Soon afterwards, they moved to Los Angeles, California where, a year later, they were blessed with a daughter, Traci. Together they raised their two children with love and dedication.
Every year, Berdia threw fun birthday parties and festive holi- day celebrations for her children and their neighborhood friends.
While lovingly providing for her family, Berdia still managed to go back to school, earning a Nursing Assistant Certification
at Los Angeles Community Col- lege, while also working as a Clerk at the U. S. Attorney’s Of- fice.
Berdia and her family moved to Tampa, Florida in 1991, where she saw both of her children graduate high school, one go off to college, and the other join the U. S. Navy. Berdia always pro- vided a loving atmosphere for her family while enjoying her fi- nancial independence by re- maining employed throughout her life.
In her later years, she worked as a cooking demonstra- tor at a large grocery store chain, where she was affection- ately known to shoppers as “the nice cooking lady.” Berdia was a special woman by all accounts. Whenever she met someone, she would politely introduce herself, and made it a point to know that person’s name. She wanted peo- ple to feel special. She would al- ways send people off with a “Have a nice day,” “God Bless You,” and, for her family, an added “I love you.”
Berdia deeply enjoyed being within the comfort of her own home with her family, and this is how she departed this life, at home surrounded by her loving family on May 6, 2021.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lillie Kirkland, Claudis Williams and her sister, Janie Kirkland.
