On Tuesday, June 12th the Hillsborough MPO Board will host a meeting at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in the County Center Building, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., on the 2nd Floor. The hearings begin at 4 p.m., and will continue until 8 p.m.
The purpose of the meet- ing is to discuss the adoption of the Transportation Im- provement Program.
Mrs. Lena Young Green said it is important for residents to attend the meet- ing.
Mrs. Green said, “Some of the concerns that we will be sharing with the MPO on Tuesday are:
“We want equitable trans- portation options for every- one. This includes affordable, efficient means such as addi- tional on-time busses, safe bike and pedestrian routs. These would be economically helpful for lower income resi- dents to help them get to em- ployment locations without having to depend on cars that are additional financial bur- dens. This would help in avoiding gentrification in our areas.

that recognizes the impact on minority neighborhoods from past decisions. Therefore, neighborhoods need to be re- united, environmental and social impact on communities needs to be restored by incor- porating boulevards instead of interstates in the urban core.
“Transportation systems need to assist in neighbor- hood and communities’ eco- nomic enhancement based on studies that show boulevards generate greater financial im- provement for areas. DOT should not continue to impact neighborhoods by continu- ously extending to consume properties that are becoming more and more valuable as this generation returns to urban living.”

“We also have a younger
group of ladies who do most of the mentoring. We are a mentoring group whose mis- sion is to educate, encourage and assist women in what- ever is needed to enhance their quality of life,” she ex- plains.
A foster parent for more than 10 years, Ms. Brooks- Williams has always had a passion to help the displaced.
In addition to the brunch that guests will enjoy, Ms. Brooks-Williams and Ms. Paula Lang, who is Vice President of the Ministry, are hopeful that the community will provide gifts for those who have been chosen for recognition. Donations of gift cards, gift cards for restau- rants, or even monetary tax- deductible donations that will be used to purchase these items, can be sent to Yes You Can Foundation, 5508 N. 50th St., Suite 6A, Tampa 33610.
