In Drive-By Shooting

Police are searching for an- swers after a mother of three was shot and killed in Kansas as she slept early last Tuesday morning (Aug. 31.)
Natasha Hayes was pro- nounced dead after a gunman shot into her bedroom multi- ple times around 3:45 a.m. Her children ages 18, 16, and 14, found her just moments after the shooting.
Hayes, a caregiver at Life Care Center of Kansas City, was beloved by her children, many community members
and friends. Candice Berger, Hayes’ cousin, opened up to reporters about the shooting. ‘They just took her life ... I mean, it’s just wrong, it’s just wrong, in a cowardly way,” she said. “She was a mother, a true mother. Some mothers like we don’t have out here. It’s just so sad.” She was also the cousin of singer and activist, Janelle Monáe. The singer took to Twitter to mourn her loss and call for the end of gun violence.
Billy Dee Williams played the original Lando. Most hoping Donald Glover will be cast in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ movie.
More than a decade after their last album, De La Soul is in the throes of their well de- served victory lap as And The Anonymous Nobody has landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Rap Albums Chart.
The trio leaned on the love of fans and hip-hop purists alike to fund their latest musical LP. Raising more than $600,000 in donations, making the group’s project the second highest Kickstarter campaign in the site’s history.
Donald Glover’s role in Spider-Man: Homecoming is still a mystery, but he’s proud of the work he did on the film. In TIME magazine, he spoke about his time on the project.
He said, “The Internet is a strange box. It was weird to see that full circle. I only did it be- cause I thought it was a cool role.” He also spoke about the amount of diversity on the film. The talk then turned to Young Lando, and things are looking up. If Lucasfilm is looking to cast Glover for the role in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, they should just ask. When speaking about Star Wars, he wouldn’t verify or deny the rumors that he’s the first choice to play the
role, but he did talk about how bigofafanheis.
Here’s hoping we see Don- ald on the silver screen as Young Lando when the movie comes out.
Glover’s Atlanta is based on a deeply intrinsic understand- ing of being young and black today – especially in Atlanta, GA and surrounding southern cities. It is a collection, or col- lage, of very specific, yet uni- versal parts of black life weaving seamlessly in and out of each other. They thread back and forth, weaving a tapestry that feels too familiar to be fake. It aired Tuesday at 10 on FX.
Taraji Defends Vivica In Rekindled 50 Cent Beef
Taraji goes after 50 Cents after he restarted beef with Vivica Fox.
All summer long fans have been glued to their TV sets watching the web of lies Ghost, Tommy, Angela, Tasha and Kanan all tell on the Starz hit drama, Power. Yet, with two episodes left to the close of Season Three, fans are also excited to learn what will come of Cookie, Lu- cious and company on the Fox breakout hit Empire.
Never one to hold his tongue, Power executive pro- ducer 50 Cent took to Insta- gram to post an unflattering side-by-side photo of his ex and Empire actress Vivica A. Fox in an attempt to promote Power and shade the competi- tion.
The star of Empire, Taraji
‘Cookie’ Henson took to so- cial media to answer 50’s jab. “I don’t know about y’all, but I really like to see other people win,” the Academy Award nominated actress said. “So sad. Use your POWER to unite people and uplift us all. #Do-
Better.”
Taraji, who will soon be cel-
ebrating her 45th birthday, ended her response by taking a jab at the fact that Power, in its third season, doesn’t have any Emmys and Empire has snagged several nominations. “ I am proud of your accom- plishments black man,” Hen- son posted. “Maybe your karma is blocking your bless- ings. #Emmys”
