Woman Charged With Leaving Scene Of Accident Involving Death

Last month, a 35-year-old pedestrian was critically in- jured as she attempted to cross the street at 28th Street North and 41st Avenue North, in Pinellas County. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to ren- der assistance to the victim and fled the scene.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident was reported at 11:25 p.m. on August 23rd. Investigators learned that Ms. Catherine Scott Strazdins, 35, of St. Pe- tersburg, was walking in the in- tersection when she was struck by a vehicle.
Ms. Strazdins died as a result of her injuries the follow- ing night at Bayfront Medical Center.

cated a 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier at a St. Petersburg hotel. On Wednesday, Ms. Kimberly Denise Brunson, 49, of St. Petersburg, was taken into cus- tody and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involv- ing a death.
Firemen Battle Early Morning House Fire
Early Tuesday morning, Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a house fire at 911 N. 12th Avenue. There were no in- juries reported and officials are trying to determine what caused the fire.
According to officials, fire- men responded to the single- story wood framed home around 12:40 a.m. The first units on the scene saw heavy smoke and flames coming
from the roof of the home. Firemen immediately began fighting the blaze from outside, unable to enter the structure due to the intense flames and the instability of
the structure.
The fire was brought
under control at approxi- mately 1:30 a.m. An investiga- tor from the Fire Marshal’s Office will determine the cause of the fire.
