Employee Thrown From Hood Of Car In Critical Condition
Elderly Beating Victim Dies, Attacker Charged
Tampa Police report that the 81-year-old man who was attacked, robbed, and left se- riously injured in his back- yard last month has died.
The man arrested in the attack, Carlos Alberto Cordero, 47, is now facing a charge of first-degree mur- der.
According to reports, on August 17th, Alfred Watson was found in his backyard at 6:30 p.m. He had been at- tacked and robbed.
Investigators said the at- tack likely occurred between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 m., when his car was found missing.
On Friday, August 19th, Cordero was arrested at his residence, and has been jail since the incident.
Woman Who Set Wrong Car Afire Arrested
CARMEN CHAMBLEE ... Charged with arson
Police arrested a 19-year-old woman Saturday and charged her with arson. She was cap- tured on video torching a car last week.
Ms. Carmen Chamblee
was taken into custody and booked into the Pinellas County Jail. She was charged with sec- ond-degree arson, resisting an officer without violence, and possession of marijuana. She was also being held for a viola- tion of probation charge in Hillsborough County.
According to police, Ms. Chamblee was identified as the woman caught on video set- ting a Honda Accord on fire. The car was parked at 1111 Blanche B. Littlejohn Trial when it was torched last Satur- day.
Ms. Chamblee told detec- tives she thought the car be- longed to her ex-boyfriend. But police said it was the wrong car.
Man Killed Chasing Robbery Suspect

The theft of jewelry from a local mall resulted in an em- ployee being thrown from the hood of a moving car. The in- cident happened Tuesday evening.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 7 p.m., Tuesday, a Black man entered the Mirage Diamonds & Fine Jewelry Store, 321 Brandon Town Cen- ter Mall. The man stole two pieces of jewelry, a gold neck- lace, and bracelet and fled the store. The jewelry was valued at $23,485.
After grabbing the jewelry and running, an employee of the business chased the man outside. The man jumped into a vehicle, at which time the employee confronted the man and jumped on top of the hood of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle continued northbound to- wards Brandon Blvd., with the employee still on the hood. The employee was thrown from the hood when it reached Brandon Boulevard West and Brown Town Center Drive.
The 40-year-old employee, who the Sentinel is not iden- tifying because the suspect re- mains at large, was transported to a local hospital,

where he was admitted in seri- ous condition with life-threat- ening injuries.
The robbery suspect is ap- proximately 6’1” and is be- tween the ages of 25 and 30 years-old. He had a trimmed beard and was last seen wear- ing a dark blue hat, black tee- shirt, dark long pants and black shoes.
The man was last seen driving a silver, newer model Chevrolet Camaro.

A 21-year-old man died Sunday night after being shot. The suspect fled the scene on foot after the shooting.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Jef- frey Morrow, Jr., 21, ac- companied a friend to the Family Dollar, 1135 South Combee Road, in Lakeland, to sell an item he had advertised online. The friend had made arrangements to meet the buyer in the parking lot of the store.
Morrow and his friend parked and were approached by an unidentified Black man. The man reportedly snatched the item and then ran away. Both men exited the truck and began chasing the sus- pect.
At that point, the friend took cover behind the truck. He then looked under the truck and saw Morrow lying on the ground. The friend then called 9-1-1. Morrow
was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The unidentified suspect is described as a Black man in his 20s. He was last seen, wearing a white or light gray, zipped up, hooded jacket. He was also wearing a red shirt and white sneakers.
Police said Morrow had recently moved to Polk County from Pennsylvania. His friend has not been iden- tified because he is consid- ered a witness in the case.

Pedestrian Killed In Accident
On Sunday, September 4th at 1:35 a. m., St. Peters- burg Police reported that a car driven by Tyrone Gray, 33, was traveling east in the 3200 block on 18th Avenue, South in the curb lane.
A pedestrian, Emory Carter, 54, stepped off the curb and into the path of the approaching vehicle. The car struck Carter, throwing him to the road. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

a factor, and no criminal charges are pending.
Masked Man Robs Hotel At Gunpoint

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a man who robbed a local motel. The rob- bery took place around 11:30 p.m. Monday.
According to police, an un- known Black man entered the lobby of the Hampton Inn, 5628 W. Waters Avenue. The man concealed his identity by wearing a red mask.
Armed with a silver hand- gun, the man demanded the money from the register and

the clerk’s wallet. He then left the motel through the front door and fled on foot across Waters Avenue.
