MR. REGINALD CHARLES WRIGHT
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Reginald Charles Wright of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019, will be held Friday, May 10th, 2 p. m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Elder Aaron Hayes, offici- ating. The interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reginald was born February 28, 1955 in Tampa, Florida. He loved making people laugh and helping young people. He at- tended A. P. Leto High School and graduated from Middleton High School and Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in In- dustrial Technology.
He taught in the school sys- tems in Louisiana and retired as educator of Hillsborough County Public Schools. He taught at Booker T. Washington, Ben Hill and Van Buren Junior High Schools and King High School.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Thelma Louise Craig and dear aunt, Evelyn S. Williams.
He leaves to cherish his pre- cious memories with: his loving daughter, Lavoris Kantrell Walker; grandchildren, Craig Brandon Hall, Lamecia S. De- gree, Erianna S. Mitchell, Regi- nald L. Harper, Jr. and Joshua M. Woods; great-grandchild, Josiah Degree; aunts, Delsena S. Goodwin; cousins, Dr. Blair A. Bergen (Dr. Peggy Ann), William Henry Stokes, III, Michael B. Stokes (Maggie), Clarence Lenwood Spencer, Hope Hamlin (Kevin) and Clarissa S. Wright (Danny) and dear friend, Ron Pe- terson.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, May10th from1to2p.m.The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Friday for the service.

She is preceded in death by: her husband, Ronald Robert Sims.

MR. JEROME P. HOPE, SR.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Jerome P. Hope, Sr., will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 4 p. m. with visitation one hour prior to service at LifePoint Church, 501 S. Kingsway Road, Seffner Florida 33584, Pastor Major Jones, Sr. Pastor, with Pastor Tom Garrett, Impact Church of Tampa, officiating.
Jerome P. Hope, Sr. was born Saturday, April 18, 1959 in Pitts- burgh, Pennsylvania to the late Elijah Hope and Elmira Crump.
He was educated in Allegheny County with a high school diploma from Fifth Avenue High School and completed some col- lege courses in Pennsylvania. As a career in Human Services, Jerome devoted himself to many platforms in this arena; capitaliz- ing as a Licensed Massage Thera- pist. He would eventually relocate to Tampa, Florida continuing in the Human Service field.
Jerome was a man of God and did not mind sharing his faith with others. He was a loving, loyal provider for his wife and family. He was a family-oriented individ- ual and took great pride in his children of which they affection- ately referred to him as their super hero “Fatman.” He took in- terest in Marvel and DC Comics, even to the point that he could name the vast majority of the characters and went so far as being a collector of comic books in his earlier days. He had a heightened interest in music; en- joying the soulful sounds of Barry White, John Legend, and Heat Wave; often serenading his wife with the following selections, “Al- ways and Forever” and “All of Me.” He was a collector of knowl- edge of which he made use to en- courage and empower others.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by: his brother, Jeffrey Brower and son, Andre Jaral Hope.
Jerome Hope, Sr. leaves be- hind: his loving wife, Jennifer Hope; children, Bethany Lynch, Jerome P. Hope, Jr., Andwele (Dowel) Booker, Jamon Booker, Renee Hope and Shalaya Hope; best friend, Charles Thomas (Tamara); and an aunt and a host of grandchildren, cousins, and friends.

RETIRED LT. COL. JAMES ARTHUR HAMMOND (U. S. ARMY)
Funeral service for Retired Lt. Col. James Arthur Ham- mond, U. S. Army, who passed on May 1, 2019, will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11 a. m. at Beulah Baptist Institutional Church, 1006 W. Cypress Street, Tampa, Florida, with Rev. Dr. W. James Favorite, officiating. Mil- itary honors will be conducted by the U. S. Army Honor Guards.
Retired Lt. Col. U. S. Army, James Arthur Hammond was born on November 11, 1929 to the parentage of William and Lu- cille Hammond in Tampa, Florida. He attended the public schools of Hillsborough County, graduating from Middleton High School in 1946. He later at- tended Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Mr. Hammond was ROTC Battalion Commander and was later promoted to Cadet Colonel. After graduation and while serv- ing in the Army, he established the Hammond Electric Company and served as its President. His military assignments took him to Texas, Germany, England and Washington. Mr. Hammond was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
He married Evelyne Murrell of Jacksonville, Florida, a fellow student at Hampton University and school teacher. The union produced two sons, Kevin, Gary and a daughter, Lisa. All three children also attended Hampton University.
He served as the First Com- missioner of Community Rela- tions for the City of Tampa. With the help of United States Congressman, Sam Gibbons he was able to obtain a $500,000 Federal Grant to start the first Preschool Program in Hillsbor- ough County which was the largest preschool program in the United States and started two years before the Head start Pro- gram. Dr. Jim Bax, who served on the Governor’s staff at the time, said, “Hillsborough Com- munity College is located in Ybor City today because of James Hammond’s efforts and leader- ship.”
Mr. Hammond joined the Jim Walter Corporation as Na- tional Director of Corporate Equal Opportunity Government Compliance. While at Jim Wal- ter Corporation, he started his own business, Impact Communi- cations and served as Chief Op- erating Officer. He was one of
the founders of Tampa Hillsbor- ough Action Plan (THAP) serv- ing as President, Chairman and Board of Director. THAP has grown and has become the new go-to small business gatherings, community meeting and special events. It is occupied by more than 30 businesses. His most treasured award was being the first recipient of the Governor’s Medal from Governor Claude Kirk, which is the highest award given to a citizen for Outstand- ing Community Service.
He and his late wife, Evelyne established the James and Eve- lyne Hammond Endowed Schol- arship Fund which has helped numerous students with their tuition at their Alma Mater, Hampton University.
Mr. Hammond served as Chairman of the Civil Service Board, District Chairman, Boy Scouts of America, Board of Di- rector, Member of The Greater Tampa Urban League, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce and Community Federal Savings and Loan Asso- ciation. He was a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the NAACP. He was listed in Who’s Who Among Black Amer- icans and Prominent People in Florida and the United States.
He was named the 25th Out- standing Alumni and the Ham- mond family was named Family of the Year at his Alma Mater, Hampton University.
Mr. Hammond served as Commissioner of the Unem- ployment Appeals Commission having been appointed by Gov- ernors, Rubin Askew, Bob Mar- tinez, Lawton Chiles and Jeb Bush.
The Hillsborough County School Board honored him for his long history in promoting education and race relations in Tampa. On August 20, 2007, James A. Hammond Elemen- tary School opened.
Several years ago United States Congressman, Alcee Hastings proclaimed May 4th as National James A. Hammond Day.
Mr. Hammond was pre- ceded in death by: his parents, William Hammond, Lucille Hammond and his beloved wife of 49 years, Evelyne.
He is survived by: his sons, Kevin (Tonya) Hammond, Gary (Carol) Hammond and Kerrick (Theta) Williams; daughter, Lisa Hammond; grandchildren, Mykal (Jemma) Hammond, Kevin (Melody) Rowe, Jennifer Jones, Robyn (Cory) Smith, Tremain (Brittany) Exford, Tiffany (Sherod) Fulks, Nekki (Benjamin) Shivers, Vamesha Jackson and Troy Jackson; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Dr. Robert Hammond (Louise); sister-in-law, Lynda Lewis and many other relatives and friends.
There will be a public view- ing on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Beulah Baptist Institutional Churchfrom6–8p.m.withthe family present from 6:30 – 8 p. m.
Friends are asked to assem- ble at the church on Saturday at approximately 10:45 a. m. for the service.
