Detectives are investigating a shooting that left five people in- jured. The shooting took place early Sunday.
According to the Tampa Po- lice Department, officers were dis- patched to Columbus Plaza in reference to the shooting shortly after 3 a.m. Upon arrival, investi- gators learned that five people had been shot. Two were hospital- ized and the three others were treated for their injuries. The vic- tims ranged in age from 17 to 19 years.
In addition to the people being injured, bullets hit several cars and buildings.
A spokesman for the Tampa Police Department said they are still trying to determine what led to the shooting. “There was a large crowd out there and we have been told that some of those out there became engaged in an altercation.
“At some point, someone drove by and opened fire,” he said.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search for a stolen statue. The statue was stolen from outside St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 12708 N. Dale Mabry last month.
According to police, on April 12th, around 4 p.m., the statue of Saint Francis of Assisi was taken from the church. The statue weighs between 200 and 300 pounds and stands about 5 feet tall. It is made of resin and val- ued at $10,000, police said.
It was last seen sitting on rocks on the right side of the church in the Sonto Nino Shrine area.
Anyone who locates the statue or anyone with informa- tion about the theft is asked to contact the Hillsborough County sheriff’s Office at (813) 247- 8200; or Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS

You will always be missed and loved forever.

      National Crime
Early Friday, deputies re- sponded to a residential burglary. The incident took place in the 10000 block of Highway 579, in Seffner.
The victim told police that a rifle was one of the things taken during the crime that took place at 4:13 a.m.
Seven minutes later, police received a second call about a suspect dressed in black and armed with a rifle. The home- owner confronted the man and he fled on foot.
Police said six minutes later,
at 4:26 a.m., another call came from an overnight employee at Commercial Duct Systems, 9707 Williams Road. The employee told the dispatcher that a man was inside the building dressed in black with his face covered and carrying a rifle.
The two employees safely ex- ited the building before police ar- rived. The building was secured and a portion of Williams Road was closed. However, after clear- ing the building, police did not find anyone inside. The suspect has not been located, police said.
Michael Cohen, the former lawyer, media attack dog and fixer for President Donald Trump, said Monday there “re- mains much to be told” as he heads to prison to begin a three- year prison sentence for crimes including campaign finance vio- lations related to hush-money payments made on Trump’s behalf.
Cohen walked into the Fed- eral Correctional Institution, Otisville around 11:45 a.m. A minimum-security prison camp at the prison, in the countryside 70 miles (113 kilometers) north- west of New York City, has be- come a haven for white-collar criminals.
“There still remains much to be told and I look forward to the day when I can share the truth,” Cohen told a crush of media outside his New York City apart- ment before getting into a wait- ing Cadillac Escalade for the ride to prison.
In a shot at Trump, he said he hoped when he is released, “the country will be in a place

without xenophobia, injustice and lies at the helm.”
Cohen appeared to read from a prepared statement and didn’t answer shouted ques- tions. He stumbled on the way to the SUV as reporters and pho- tographers jostled around scaf- folding and scuffled with his driver.
Cohen’s lawyer and spokesman, Lanny Davis, said Cohen would continue to be available to cooperate with law enforcement, though it’s unclear how much his cooperation is wanted.
