for my family and friends at school, the opportunities that I have and football” (he loves playing tag football).
When we asked a 42-year-old mother of three about what she was thankful for, she said “the family that I was born into and the family that I have chosen.”
Finally, a 20-year-old female college student said she was “thankful for my fam- ily and friends because they have loved and supported me through major trauma.” As you can see, being thankful for family and friends was the most frequently mentioned subject of thankfulness. Having family and friends who love and sup-
port you is one of God’s greatest blessings.
We certainly hope that each of our readers and patrons will have the most
blessed and thankful Thanksgiving as we reflect upon our blessings in 2021. Happy Thanksgiving.

Why We Should Be Thankful
s we approach the Thanksgiving season, we are
reminded of the words of a church member who stood during Thanksgiving service to share what she was thankful for. She said, “You know, sometimes we are so consumed by the things that are happening to us until we forget to be thankful for the things that God allows NOT to happen to us. So, this Thanksgiv- ing, I am thanking God for all the things He did not let happen to me this past year.”
So, having come through two years of the Coron- avirus Pandemic, and not contracting the virus, we are thankful for surviving the pandemic. We also are thankful that the war in Afghanistan is over. When we asked ten readers, family members and friends what they were thankful for this Thanksgiving season, their responses evoked feelings of joy, tears, laughter, smiles and warm memories.
An 81-year-old mother said, “I’m thankful and overjoyed that our daughter and two daughters-in- law found good-paying jobs after nearly two years of unemployment.”
A 72-year-old grandfather was thankful for having “been cancer free for eight years.” A 15-year-old hon- ors high school student said, “I’m thankful for life, the joy that family and friends bring me, and the intelli- gence God has blessed me with.”
While talking to a 66-year-old female, she said, “I’m thankful and glad to be among the living.” Her 40-year-old niece said she was “thankful for having a job, good health, food, shelter, all of which I nearly lost a year ago.”
As we talked to an 81-year-old grandmother and great grandmother, she said, “I’m thankful and full of joy to have been cancer free for 43 years after having been diagnosed with two kinds of cancer.”
Her 55-year-old son said he was, “glad and thank- ful that Donald Trump was not elected to a second term in office.” A 9-year-old boy said, “I’m thankful
