IN MEMORIAM
Bishop Willie C. Barb passed away on May 9, 2021. He was born on September 13, 1945 in Tampa, FL to Mr. Willie Authur Barb and Jeanette Mingo-Barb. As a child, he grew up in the Hyde Park and West Tampa areas. He attended Hillsborough County Public Schools and graduated from Middleton High School in 1964. He then went to FAMU on a baseball scholarship.
Bishop Barb and Mother Paulette Barb were joined in marriage on September 9, 1966. They have been married for 54 years. To this union God blessed them with 3 children, Regina, Darrell and Michael; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
Bishop Barb was saved in 1969 under Bishop Amos Jackson. Over the years, God blessed him with his own ministry where he began his mission of helping others and preaching the Word of God.
Bishop was well known all over Tampa and was often referred to as “The Walking Bible.” Bishop has been Pastor at several different Churches in various locations here in Tampa and have ministered and witnessed to hundreds if not thousands of people. There are a great number of Ministers, Pastors, Apostles, Bishops, Evangelists, Teachers, etc., that have been in their path over the years.
Bishop Barb was also a Black Business owner during a time there were not many in this area. Notably from 1969 to 1979 he owned and operated a full-service Amoco Station located at the corner of 40th Street and Lake Avenue. He also owned and operated other service stations in the city. These businesses also gave him a great opportu- nity to be a witness for our Lord Jesus Christ. At his Service/Me- chanic stations you could always be sure to hear Gospel music and/or Gospel sermons on the radio or tape players.
BISHOP WILLIE C. BARB Bishop Barb touched so many lives and he will be greatly missed. (See Funeral Notice)
He was also known for his leadership and coaching for Belmont Heights Little League Baseball team.
